He woke up groggy - always a sign that he'd gone to sleep far too tired and fallen into a deep, deep sleep. The fact that the bed was cool beside him let him know that she'd gotten up some time ago, even if she'd come to bed with him at dawn. He glanced at the window, where the evening sun showed pale through a gap in the curtains. Apparently, he'd slept all day.

Eris was awake, debating leaving for the day, to go for a walk. Really, she was still wondering what the hell was going on between she and Brett, but that wasn't something that was going to leap to the forefront of her mind, not something that had some perfect answer that she would suddenly land upon. So, she was very heavily considering going out, leaving, not coming back until late evening. Mostly she was just trying to figure out if she left a note or not.

Light shouldn't be able to shine into closed eyes. That was Brett's first thought for the day as he grumbled and rolled over in bed, away from the shaft of light that was cruelly torturing him out of sleep and biting straight into the pounding in his head. He grabbed a pillow from underneath him and pulled it over his face, but it was too late. He was awake. He really, really didn't want to be awake.

Brett had watched from the back of the bar for the whole of her act. And once Dutch had moved away, nobody else had bothered him. Apparently there was some real benefit in being seen talking to one of the regulars. He'd remember that one for the future. But, for now, he'd stood alone, always with a drink in hand, but not actually drinking a whole lot for all of that. It was simply for appearances until she took her leave and the band took over properly.
He'd given her five minutes, and then he'd made his way to the door backstage. He wasn't surprised when he got stopped, but he'd done this job in another place, he knew how this one went, and a few greens and the right words had got him through easily enough, despite the fact that the 'act' was meant to be being kept anonymous. If he ran this place, security would be rather tighter than it was.
Nobody else stopped him once he was backstage and walking like he was meant to be there, and it wasn't like it was a big place, especially not compared to the backstage area of the Kitten Club. It didn't take him long to find her dressing room and he leaned against the wall, by the side of the door, before reaching over to knock.

The throbbing in the side of Brett's head had subsided slowly over the course of the day, but the bruising remained. He wasn't a pretty sight, one eye swollen almost shut, surrounded by a vivid display of multi-coloured skin. There really was no avoiding the fact that he'd been hit, and by something hard. Unsurprising, really, since his business partner, his lover, had pistol whipped him last night in the midst of another one of their set-tos.

They'd made a final circuit around the room. That part, admittedly, was a blur for her. Just empty social niceties that she did just fine with, but she wasn't even trying to commit to memory. During that time she was just so very aware of Andrei's presence. And then, Brett had asked her just how long they had to stay, and she'd given the okay to go home.

She needed to be calmer than this. She was very, very aware of that. And she'd never been a woman who was given to bouts of nerves, but right now, that was what it felt like. Like her stomach was in knots, and she'd not eaten earlier because of it. She still didn't feel like she could eat anything. She'd tried to get as much sleep as possible, but she wasn't entirely sure she'd gotten much. It felt a lot like she was still tired, even if she didn't feel sleepy.

It was storming, of course. Enough that at least there weren't a whole lot of people out on the streets, which was a plus. It also meant it was a little miserable for her, but it wasn't like she'd never been drenched before. She'd come up on Babylon and had made a pretty unseen walk around the place, just to be sure it wasn't being watched. With the ball on that she'd read about, she figured the police had better things to do tonight, like guzzle free champagne, and pat themselves on the back.

Eris had taken a bit of a walk when she got done speaking with Jackson. She was unsettled, paranoid, and flat out uncomfortable. In her apartment she felt antsy, and she tried laying down, but that really didn't much work out for her. So, in the end, she got up, and rifled through her things until she found a scrap of paper with a phone number on it. She could really only assume it was Brett's since he'd claimed she had his number.

It was the early dawn when Brett woke with a start, bringing his hand up in front of his face, feeling almost surprised that it was empty. He'd been dreaming again, but the details of that dream were fleeting. He didn't remember exactly what had gone on in it, but he knew it had left him feeling... No, he didn't know how it had left him feeling. Didn't know at all.
It didn't take a lot to wake Eris. She slept fitfully at best, and she was paranoid as all hell. Plus, she'd stopped drinking on account of Brett the night before, and had gone to bed with only a light buzz on instead of the usual passing out she tended towards. So when he woke up, it roused her enough that she shifted, making a soft incoherent noise as she opened up her eyes. It took her a moment to adjust her gaze, so the first things she noticed was that the bed was warmer, there was someone next to her, and she felt fairly exhausted. Then she focused and saw Brett. Which really, should have taken her a lot more by surprise than it did. She didn't remember straight away going to bed with him, but there he was. It took her a moment of gazing at him to recall that that had been on purpose, and it hadn't been for anything like intimacy. Which would explain the whole still clothed situation. She noticed he looked a little...confused? Something. "...you 'kay?" she asked, voice a sleep-hoarse murmur.

He'd made his point. He'd found her. She knew he'd found her. She knew she couldn't just walk out on him like that. He'd made the point. That didn't mean he was in a rush to see the bitch again. But it didn't mean he was going to leave her entirely, either. She left him, not the other way round.

Eris was in the dark. She'd been keeping to that since she'd woken up a while back and found herself without the 'doctor' that had been 'caring' for her. She didn't know how long it had been, the days kind of blurred together a lot of the time. It felt like a long time. It felt like forever. A waiting game always felt like forever, though. It was only a matter of time, she knew. They'd be back for her. Whoever had disappeared the doc? They'd be back.

It was a dark, and stormy night. But then it seemed like it was an endless series of them, the only thing marking the passage of time differently being the songs she sang downstairs. It was late when she started up the narrow, claustrophobic stairwell to the loft. The theme of the evening was she was feeling dead on her feet, tired in a bone-deep-ache sort of way. Vaguely, in the back of her mind, she was wondering if this was what her existence was going to be now. Waking up, heading downstairs eventually, singing songs, coming back home. She didn't even speak to anyone, really. Not the band, not anyone in the club. Hell, she had it currently set up that the owner put her cut in the mail slot in an unmarked envelope.
