There was the festivities all going on outside, but Zhen had other things to do. Such as delivering a beautiful potted plant to Janey's room, complete with a get well soon card, a balloon, and another gift.

The card, which was hand made with a little watercolor painting of flowers on it, said on the inside:

Since Bright had asked for a pen and paper, Zhen had gone out of her way to get that for him. Of course, knowing what it was for, she specialized it, just a bit. She spent a good chunk of time that morning making a set of stationary, with musical bars lining every page. At the top of each sheet she wrote in slightly different scripts each time: from a Bright mind or some variation thereof. They also each had in very tiny lettering, somewhere on the page, (where depended on which sheet it was, some were even on the back) little snippets of advice. Or perhaps they were statements. Such as the first page read 'wish granted' in the upper right hand corner. The third page said 'never be afraid' underneath the third set of bars.

She also had different amounts of bars on each page, some done in larger scale than others, though they were all complete. All in all, it was the most mismatched set of stationary ever. But it was all personalized, and done by hand. After she finished her project, she put it in a box, and tied a black ribbon around it. Dropping it off at the counter at the Drake, she wrote a short note to stick with it.

To Bright,
sometimes people get what they wish for.

Sometimes, Bright didn't want to go back to sleep. It was rare enough that he could sleep, honestly, since passing out on top of his piano or on the floor by the liquor cabinet didn't really count as proper rest. He never made it to his bed half the time, not that it would keep the dreams from coming. If he thought it would, well... he'd just drink in his bed.

It seemed that everyone knew Danny was on desk duty because his desk was full of files and others' paperwork that had been dropped on him. It was mind numbing but he worked through because there wasn't much else to do.

Lily needed to get out of the house despite the damp of the morning. She felt confined, suffocated inside the walls and while it was worse outside, at least there was more air to breathe, no walls feeling like they were closing in on her. She didn't have to go in to work for another hour or two, but she thought she'd go in early with some doughnuts or something.

Jessica would ask how the ball went and Lily would suffer through it. And Jenny. She really needed to see Jenny soon.

Jackson was still on a buzz from everything going so well with Babylon. There was of course, a buttload of paperwork that he was busy trying to pawn off on other people, and the matter of that creepy-ass Russian he needed to interrogate, but it was all fine. Babylon was gone - no complaints at all about pain in the neck loose ends to tie off.

To hell with the gang warfare, to hell with the serial killer. Dutch's job could follow suit, it could pile on top of a heap of dead mobsters to form a tower of things he just didn't care about today. He was in a good mood. Maybe it had something to do with the idea that a bunch of the scum in the city were now floating on the surface? Maybe. Mostly, it was the still-lasting high that had taken hold from seeing her. Cheyenne. His little girl.
