Perfect Strangers

Laura 2

Who: Benny and Laura
Where: Run down building
When: Late night

Welsh had tied Benedict to a length of pipe by a piece of white string around one wrist. It wasn't the most enjoyable thing in the world, but it wasn't like he minded it. In Bedlam it was worse he'd wake up in wierd places moored by the white string with no idea how he got there. At least now when he came he he wasn't anywhere where people were screaming. Instead he was in some strange building by all by himself waiting for Welsh to come back.

The Boy in Blue Always Get Their Man

danny - truck

Who: Danny, Jakob, and Jackson
Where: An apartment building in town
When: Early afternoon

Oh, how the game was on. how fun it was to be on a trail, to know that somewhere, quite possibly in these very walls, the prey of the entire police force was lurking. Were they scared? Panicked? Desperate? Jakob hoped so, such emotions always robbed the predictability from these proceedings. The last thing he wanted was to find some sad little man turning himself in to the police with a neat confession ready. Not that he thought that would be the case.

The Writing on the Wall

Ian -smirk

who: Ian and Laura
where: The Alexandrian Library
when: afternoon

Ian's day had started just like almost every other day. He'd spent the morning talking with guests, ensuring rooms where ready for guests checking in today and mostly overseeing the going-ons of his hotel. After lunch in the hotel dinning room, he finally sat down at his desk in the back office, intent on going over the books again and continuing to perfect the algorithm he used to ensure only he could read them.

So nobody gets hurt

Laura

Who: Laura and Pepper
When: Morning
Where: Under the 6th st bridge

The big black car slowed, splashing through a large puddle as it pulled off the street and stopped. For some time the two people in the front seat sat talking, sometimes animatedly, or at least the passenger, who was by far the smaller, was animated. Some of those hanging out around the bridge were probably beginning to get a little nervous by the time the kid, wearing a slightly too large sailor's pea coat and a cap pulled down low, got out of the car and closed the door just a little too hard.

Broken Glass

hands behind back red bg

Who: Brett
Where: Dr Gray's house
When: Midmorning

Glass crunched under the former cop's feet as he landed in a crouched position, just inside the kitchen window. It wasn't the first time he'd slipped over the high wall into the back yard - only last time he'd had to jemmy open the window before heading inside. Now, though, things were different. This neighborhood, they learned quickly when a place was abandoned, and there was little else for kids to do than have fun making it likely to stay abandoned.

blade

who: lenore
where: the ghetto/a church in the ghetto. lots of ghetto.
when: dawn

Head bowed, her dark hair falling softly forwards, Lenore spoke to God. Even though her face was bleeding and her hands were stained with the remains of the girl she had just stuck with a knife not 20 minutes ago, she still knelt before the Alter and clasped those stained hands and let God into her heart, to take away her sins and to fill her with her purpose.

TIME UPDATE

dirty

Date: Monday, January 10th

Weather: A wicked storm rages all night - full on thunder and lightning, though the storm dies down nearing dawn. Drizzling rain continues until midmorning and then stops, leaving a very damp, dull city for the rest of the day.

Events: The front page of the Echo today carries the story of Stella's death, and yet more about the possibility of a serial killer being loose in the city.

Some people in the city receive notes this morning. Each note is hand written, though not in any handwriting familiar to the recipient. Each note gives a time and a place to meet the anonymous sender. Each note is worded differently, but each note is worded in such a way that would best encourage the recipient to attend the meeting, even though they do not know who they are meeting. (For instance, if your character responds best to threats, it'll be threatening; if your character responds best to intrigue, or blackmail - ie, if best through other approaches, it would be that. Whatever would work best!) There is no suggestion in the note that the recipient is not the only person who received a note this morning. It seems very personal and as if someone really does want to talk to them about something which they cannot put down in writing (ie, there's no clue as to what the the meeting is about in the note other than there's something that someone wants to talk in person and maybe some vague allusions to important things that would get the recipient's attention).

In actual fact, the notes are paired - with two people getting a note with the same meeting place. Someone has set it up so that both people attending the meeting will do so under the belief that the other person set it up.

It's also the case that there are many of these meetings going on throughout the city. There seems to be no reason or structure behind the pairings - some meetings are between strangers, some end up being between friends, or people who have met before. Each meeting is set up in a remote place, with no other people around, and when the two people get to the meeting place, there is always something else there, though that 'something' changes from meeting to meeting and can be either positive or negative. It is, however, always something interesting.

Dreams: There are no dreams tonight for the wakings!

If you have any events or anything going on which you think warrants a mention in the time update, please let us know!
