Today had been a good day for Jenny. She woke up, showered, ate, cleaned a little around the house, talked to Jackson and finished whatever other things she had set out to day. Now, in the lull of early afternoon boredom, she found herself actually wanting to wander out side. So, grabbing her purse and slipping on her warm sweater, she locked the apartment and left the building.
Birth
Submitted by frankly on Tue, 12/01/2009 - 02:44.He was proud, moreso than even a new father ever felt. Proud of this world, of what it was becoming with each new day, of the fact that man could finally see beyond their difference and work towards a common goal. That pride seemed to swell like a chorus within the near-still corridors of the hospital as he stood, stared, and smiled.

Humming to herself as she walked down the hallway to her apartment, Jenny pulled her keys out of her purse and unlocked the door, entering and locking it behind her. Today was nice - did everything she needed to, went out and started working on not being quite so terrified to be around people she didn't know. Cheyenne was a nice girl with great taste in the statues of the city and fun to talk to, too. All in all, productive day.

Brett told himself once again that it was only sensible as he pushed open the door to the florist he'd found. He didn't crack a smile, in fact, he looked incredibly uncomfortable. It might be sensible - after all, the police were more than likely watching where she worked and where she lived and, now that Jackson had Ginger's details, it was possible his building was being watched as well. When he actively thought about it, he felt cornered. Cornered and glad he'd checked out Gray's place a couple of days ago. They'd needed a place they could meet up then, but they really needed it now.

Ki was sitting outside the Sunny Shores Motel, waiting for her employers to be finished with whatever they were doing. Some kind of deal, even if she wasn't aware of what that deal entailed. Instead, she was just outside, walking along the water, looking down into it now and then. She half expected to find a corpse, but so far had not.

It had taken her far too long to find her way back to the One More Round, and she was exhausted. However, she still had something to take care of before she could sleep before tonight's performance. So, she cleaned herself up, got dressed as nicely incognito as she could, and she headed first for the library.
There, she pulled another little number of 'steal the correct page' and quietly started putting everything into a large envelope. News clippings were there, with small typed notes attached that held some vital information. She made it Syndicate focused, though more heavily implicated those involved with the O'Malleys more. It was just enough to start some reporter on their path, enough that it would shake things up just as much as Jackson's involvement would--whenever he got around to doing that. She also tried to make it information that couldn't be directly traced back to herself.
Then she headed to the Echo, and slid it through the mail slot, 'URGENT' written across the front in different letters cut from old editions of the Echo itself. After that she headed back to her loft, so she could try and sleep, before she had to go back into her life of being a nightclub singer. Things had gotten interesting, for certain, that didn't mean they were any less exhausting.

Angela James grabbed a wrapped package out of the icebox as her youngest daughter donned her coat by the doorway. “I was going to deliver this to your brother today,” she said closing the icebox and meeting her daughter at the entrance, “but I think you should do it.”
Mid-way through wrapping her scarf, Evelyn paused to look down at the package. “Oh… okay,” she carefully accepted the package from her mother’s hands, glancing at her quizzically.
snaps of today

Cheyenne was bored. What she really was starting to think was she needed a proper job. Not going back to modeling or anything--but a proper job. Sure, she was getting tutors in place of college, but they went easy on her and the subjects they taught weren't anything she was even interested in. It all seemed kind of...showy. Or for show. And she got that she supposedly needed to be taught the ways of higher society and the like since like it or not she was part of it...but she still thought it was a waste of time, and she wanted to be doing something else.
So, she was out. It wasn't raining for once, and she wanted to go for a walk, and maybe take some photographs while she was at it. That was what she was doing. Wandering the park, taking photographs of things. She paused as she focused her lens on a random person, and snapped the shot. So far, today, she didn't feel like she was being stalked, and she hoped the feeling continued.
They Celebrated Him As Well
Submitted by sammy on Tue, 11/24/2009 - 18:14.
The fireworks, the rallies in the streets... he may not have been alive at the time, but he knew that celebrations like these weren't all that uncommon a little less than a century ago in certain places in Europe. The cheering and the fireworks weren't loud enough -- not to him anyway -- to drown out the beeping of the heart monitor.
And it scared him how easily everything seemed to be repeating itself, but this time... this time was going to be worse. He knew it. It already was.
He wished he could be asleep with her.
Flood
Submitted by whisperling on Tue, 11/24/2009 - 16:52.
It was grey. Not like a black and white photo or anything. It was grey for real. The sky, the streets, even the people seemed washed out. They trudged along, looking at their feet, each caught up in the thoughts in his own head and wandering aimlessly. They didn't even seem to see each other. They didn't notice when one among them fell or cried out. It was like every member of the crowd was alone on the street.
Late-early Start
Submitted by motherless on Tue, 11/24/2009 - 16:46.Who: Kess and Sam
Where: Nighthawk's diner
When: Mid-morning
Kess was tired, and she almost wished that she was hung over. When she'd woken up that morning, she felt like she smelt like she should be hung over. She hadn't finished working at Babylon until the early hours of the morning - the O'Malleys had seen to that. They'd had one of their 'special' nights last night, entertaining their friends or business acquaintances (Kess didn't know which, and she didn't want to know either) with an open house. It hadn't been a particularly pleasant experience for any of the staff there, since all the punters were 'special guests' and it was very much a case of 'the customer is always right'. Even thinking about it she wanted to make quote marks in the air. Her very thoughts were edged with a bitter sarcasm.
She'd kept herself on the level merely by out talking anyone who made an approach she didn't like, but since the O'Malleys had taken over, she'd had to get used to the groping. Making complaints to her new employers merely brought her to their attention more, and she really didn't want that. So, she'd quietly tended bar, and out talked the increasingly drunk 'guests' - and put up with the clouds of stinking smoke that hung around the place. Not all of it was tobacco either. Again, she hadn't asked - she didn't want to know. All she wanted to do was go to work, come home and be paid.
And she'd been paid - enough to make rent, and enough to mean she could treat herself to breakfast at Nighthawk's - after the world's longest shower, that had left her feeling and smelling a lot more human. She sat alone, in a booth near the front of the diner, having order eggs and bacon, and drinking a cup of strong coffee as she cast her eyes over the newspaper, with it's glaring headline about the serial killer. For once, it seemed, teh city had good news.

bright colors
Submitted by stolen_walker on Mon, 11/23/2009 - 07:56.He was tired. So tired that he could barely keep his eyes open, and he kept nodding forward, forehead thunking a little against the glass of the window, which would wake him back up again. Everything was so bright. It was bright, and colorful, and exciting, and there were people everywhere, all in different costumes. He wanted to stay awake to see it all, to be part of the special day. He tried to peer farther down the street, where that river of color and lights was headed, but there didn't seem to be an end. It was like everyone in the city had come out to walk in a fluid mass, all in celebration.
Songs were rising and falling, snatches of them heard all over. They'd pass through the crowds, through the walkers, through the spectators, some in languages he'd never even heard before. But it was all amazing, so exciting. His mama and papa said that everything was getting better. That the whole world was getting medicine, and it was the spiritual kind. He didn't really understand so much, but he liked the colors and the lights.
Fireworks
Submitted by no princess on Sun, 11/22/2009 - 18:09.They blossomed in the night sky, all around the world, some from organised, official displays, some from back gardens and on street corners. The patterns they made left imprints against the blackness, long after the lights themselves had faded. The bangs ran in ears, competing at times against the ringing of bells, pealing out over the night, a cacophony of light and sound that heralded the celebration of this momentous event.
It felt like it was happening all at once, in so many different places. It felt spontaneous, joyous, like the best thing in the world, like nobody had ever lived before her. And really, had they? It didn't feel like that anymore. It felt like it had been a life half lived, and only now could anyone appreciate the beauty and joy of life. And there were others there, right there, appreciating it as well. She could feel them, almost touch them.
And all the while, the fireworks continued.

Eris was lost. She'd been lost for quite a long while. And she was wandering, trying to find her way back home, but it wasn't happening. So, she was wet, freezing, in a terrible mood, and didn't know how to find her way home. Really, all in all it was a bad, bad night.
She swore softly as she tripped over a rock she didn't see which sent her stumbling a little. Then she looked down at her shoes. One of her heels was broken, and she kicked the shoe off, along with the other, and she dropped both into the nearest bin. Then she looked around again, wondering how this night could get worse.

It's a perfect day for a parade

This was her least favorite thing about being an older sister. Of course her mother would send her out into the mess of things, dragging the twins along beside her, dealing with the sharp tugs on her arms every time one of them saw something interesting. By the time they made it to where residents were lining up for the parade route her shoulders were throbbing with a dull ache.

At least it wasn't raining. Small damn mercies and all. Rain was all it ever seemed to do these days, though that had its benefits. There were less people around when it was raining and those that were around definitely weren't stopping to watch who was doing what or going where. That had worked to his advantage the night before, but Brett couldn't deny that not getting soaked to the skin wasn't a very appealing trade off.
TIME UPDATE
Submitted by mods on Sat, 11/21/2009 - 14:12.
Weather: The rain holds off today, though with the clouds above threatennig, it looks like it's constantly 'about to rain'. A dull day with an edge of cold that always seems like it's going to turn worse than it actually does.
Events: The news of the arrest of a man comes in the early edition of the City Echo. There aren't many details provided of the accused, just that they have apparently arrested someone on suspicion of multiple homicide. The police are fairly sure that they've got their guy.
Dreams: Today is the celebration of the birthday of the prophet. No real details of her are shown in any of the dreams, but throughout the world there are celebrations of this event.
If you have any events or anything going on which you think warrants a mention in the time update, please let us know!
