a better time at the bar
Submitted by the_huntsman on Fri, 01/08/2010 - 12:29.
who: jesse and lily
where: a bar
when: after she ditched the ball
Jesse showed up what he considered on time to meet Lily. Since she'd changed the time and everything, he figured she'd be there. And really, even if he was a little wary, he wasn't going to make her stand there all by herself. It wasn't like he wanted nothing to do with her or anything. So, he did, in fact, show. Only she hadn't, yet, and it was past the time she'd told him. That made him wonder if she'd turned the tables on him, set him up to feel like an idiot or rejected or something.

Who: Johnny and Sam
Where: ECPD Interrogation rooms
When: Mid-morning
Although Biddix Aaron Black (no wonder the jerk went by Aaron) turned out to be a living victim, it was still her case. Or their case. Sam wasn't too sure where Jakob was at the moment and he didn't seem to like talking with living people anyway. So Sam was on her own, sipping her amaretto with whipped cream watching one Arun "Johnny" Tang on the other side of the one way glass. He'd been picked in the wee hours of the morning and he looked worse for wear. The pen tended to do that to some people.

who: jackson & zhen
where: the station
when: mid-morning
Jackson was still on a buzz from everything going so well with Babylon. There was of course, a buttload of paperwork that he was busy trying to pawn off on other people, and the matter of that creepy-ass Russian he needed to interrogate, but it was all fine. Babylon was gone - no complaints at all about pain in the neck loose ends to tie off.
If we look right
Submitted by chasethedragon on Thu, 01/07/2010 - 16:49.As it ever was, Angelo knew it was getting late. But late was good, late was familiar. The hour meant the usual crowd at the Round packing tables and milling along the bar in the dim lighting as he and the other Seraphim went through their set, coaxing notes of pure velvet from their instruments. He felt good lately, like there was a blue sky only he could see. Maybe it was Lenore that had triggered it, maybe the dawning of the new year was finally impacting him with all of its' hopes.

Andrei again tested the cuffs, mainly because he was bored instead of actual gauging an escape. He sitting in an interrogation room, alone, both hands handcuffed to a table. It was overkill for somebody who was caught merely sitting down at Babylon in a room that didn't even have a bed in it. But even if the detective didn't know him (the crimes Andrei was questioned weren't simple prostitution or drug ones after all) , there were plenty of other cops who did. So, apparently, somebody had decided precautions had to be taken.

Boys.... boys were stupid. They were stupid, stupid jerks. Why were they stupid jerks? Because they made you feel weird, that's what. They kissed ya then pretended it was a game.

Where: Her place
When: Early morning
Evelyn rested her head against the wall next to the phone as she hung it up, keeping her hand wrapped around the handle even after it clicked into the cradle. Calling her brother’s building had been unsuccessful – somebody had picked up, sure. But the slurred speech and repetitive questioning of ‘… you sure – you sure ain’t Karen?’ had told her that Jesse wouldn’t be getting the message. So she had just gotten off the phone with their mother instead.

Who: Janey and Danny
Where: Their apartment
When: Mid-afternoon
Janey sat in the bedroom, sorting through the basket of clean laundry at her feet. She hunched slightly over, trying to ignore the ache in the pit of her abdomen: a sign of her body’s betrayal. Despite all that had happened in the past, she couldn’t help but cling to a little bit of hope that maybe someday she would have a child. So each time her monthly visitor arrived, she was left with the sting of disappointment.
The Ball

Who: Maya and open to all attending the ball (open tags and mini scenes!)
Where: The Drake Hotel
When: Evening/Night
Maya stood at the top of the stairs down into the main ballroom of the Drake Hotela nd surveyed the crowd with a smile on her face. The turnout was, of course, impressive. there had never been any question that it would be. She was happy as she started down the stairs. This would make the morning papers - and that was publicility that, okay, the amount she'd spent on this? She may as well have bought it. but she hadn't - not directly. And so the Walker name rose. It was lovely.
She smiled and headed towards the nearest group.

Where: Phone

Maya had been up since dawn. there was just so much to do. Things to organise, last minute preparations. She had to ensure that this ball went off like clockwork, even if the venue and preparations there had been finalised yesterday, there was everything else.

It was storming, of course. Enough that at least there weren't a whole lot of people out on the streets, which was a plus. It also meant it was a little miserable for her, but it wasn't like she'd never been drenched before. She'd come up on Babylon and had made a pretty unseen walk around the place, just to be sure it wasn't being watched. With the ball on that she'd read about, she figured the police had better things to do tonight, like guzzle free champagne, and pat themselves on the back.

who; jenny & open.
where; the alexandrian library.
when; afternoon.
With a grunt of effort, Jenny pushed the massive doors to the library open. She adjusted her sweater as she entered, flinching instinctively when the doors slammed closed. She gave a backwards glance before starting into the library, smiling politely at the couple librarians who looked her way. With a soft, mostly inaudible hum, she headed towards her favorite section of the library - the fantasy section.

who: roy and dodge
where: the streets
when: mid afternoon
Roy really needed to get out of his foul mood. He'd been needing to for a while now, but truly couldn't seem to shake it. Not getting to see Marian hadn't helped, helping Miss Wright hadn't helped, and generally speaking, Roy was headed towards one of those dark places he never liked being. He just couldn't help but be there. He'd gotten into a fight earlier, just some other guys down by the docks, and he couldn't say whether he won or not. He'd fought til the rest of them weren't getting up, but that didn't necessarily mean one walked away the victor. Sometimes it just meant he was too stubborn to stay down when he ought to.
So he was looking a little worse for wear, trudging through the storm, not caring if he was soaked to the bone or not. He was trying to recall what he'd gotten into the fight for, but really couldn't. It was something...maybe some offhand comment someone had made about his sister, or his family, but really he couldn't swear to that. It might have just been him, interpreting something in a more negative light than had been intended. Reaching up, he dragged his fingers through his mop of curly hair, looking up into the rain as thunder rolled hard, and lightning flashed across the sky one again.

He sat behind the large desk in the office. The office was decorated to look like the photographs of the most powerful nation's president and yet somehow, despite their best efforts it didn't manage to convey the same sense of power. Not for the first time he wondered if it was the man behind the desk who should be faulted for that. Sighing loudly he looked opened the folder on his desk again.

Who: Dodge and Maddy
Where: Casa de Maddy aka the Hill Street Theater
When: Morning
The radiator in the corner was chugging away to stave off the cold that was blowing in through all the cracks in the ceiling and walls. While it was certainly warmer than some places the homeless found to sleep, Maddy still felt a damp chill in her bones. Not that she minded as much as she used to. Maddy had grown used to the cold, enough that she didn't have much of a problem walking around in a ill-fitted skirt and light jacket, but it was January and it was cold.
TIME UPDATE
Submitted by mods on Fri, 01/01/2010 - 14:41.
Weather: It's a stormy day and night, though not overly windy. Just very rainy, with loud thunder and bright lightning displays throughout the night.
Events: The Echo today has more stories of murder and mayhem across the city, though it's more a list of names beneath the fold. The headline is given to the ball the Walkers are throwing, and the ceremony for the police officers involved in the 'apprehension' of the killer that had been plaguing the streets. All officers are expected to attend, along with their families, so they can be duly honored by the city.
Today is quieter within the remaining ranks of the O'Malleys, though there are still a few deaths. Things are unstable at best, and it's clear it's unravelling. The rest of the Syndicate is standing by, to see how it'll unfold, but have done little to help the O'Malley's themselves.
Dreams: More news is had about the world requiring nations to go green. Most do so without a fuss, though there are some which are more reluctant, causing tensions between nations.
If you have any events or anything going on which you think warrants a mention in the time update, please let us know!
