The Garage!
Submitted by spitefire on Fri, 02/05/2010 - 13:45.
Who: Arden & Pepper & Open (for all!)
Where: Occam Automotive
When: Noon-times
Arden was standing atop the edge of the fountain, testing the boundaries of her balance; she was leaning forward, one leg outstretched behind her as an arm holding her umbrella reached out before towards the fountain's waterfall. Every now and then, a perfectly horizontal line formed from the tip of the umbrella to the tip of her outstretched foot... but mostly she wobbled around a bit as she tried to figure out what to do with her other, umbrella-less arm.
She was a bit damp. Her hair hung about her, initially beaten down by the off-and-on showers and the less successful balancing attempts. But it was soon dawning a voluminous frizziness that defied both gravity and its own dampness, so ha! Although had she used the umbrella for umbrella purposes and decided that balancing atop the fountain's slick edge was a trick saved for a dryer day, she wouldn't have been nearly as damp as she was. But Arden didn't care. She was decked out in well-worn jeans and an old coat of her dad's, and they were the perfect clothes for getting dirty and causing trouble in. Heck, she practically looked like a street kid in them! ...Except that upon closer inspection it was evident that her clothing wasn't patchy or soiled. Although the jeans she wore were worn they had been recently laundered and a pair of fairly new bright red rainboots gleamed despite the dreary weather.

Evelyn felt like she was going to jump out of her skin, but that wasn't evident to anyone passing her in the stairwell. She didn't move like somebody who felt very much like some thread in her life was unraveling apart. But she doubted she could credit self-control for the placid facade, because she couldn't even stop the how her hand gripped the banister far too tightly, and even controlling her breathing didn't stop it from being tense.

Who: Angelo and open to Sang-min
Where: Chinatown
When: mid-day
It seemed to Angelo that Mother Nature just couldn't make up her mind today, with how the weather seemed to flip sporadically between spatters of rain and hints of light bleeding between the clouds, and that fact suited him just fine. To him, it meant she was in tune with the city itself, the city that switched between wonder and horror in equal measure every day.

Who: Kess and Ian
Where: The Drake
When: Afternoon
Kess decided that she was surely certifiable as she walked up the steps of the Drake. Sure, she needed a job, really needed a job, but word was that this place was not only damn fancy, but was run by the DiGiovannis. Another mob family, and non-too-friendly with the O'Malleys, her former employers. And yet here she was, walking into the place trying not to look nervous, casting around for someone who she may be able to talk to about a job.

Who: Jakob and Sam
Where: Sam's apartment
When: Morning
Besides a swollen face and various other injuries she refused to think of, the only other outward appearance that something was wrong was the two bodyguards outside of her door, several guns concealed on their person. Sam had met them before. They'd been regular staples multiple times as she was growing up, and despite the fact that she was feeling aggressive, she found some comfort in the fact that they were there to protect her.

Who: Dodge and open
Where: The streets
When: late afternoon
Dodge was something. Honestly he wasn't entirely sure how he felt. Things with Evie had gone one way and then another and then back the way they started. He didn't know what to make of the whole thing. It was rather curious. Munching on an apple he'd lifted off a grocer, he trudged down the streets of his domain just watching and considering his situation while he twirled Angelo's umbrella in the other hand. The weather wasn't ideal, but it wasn't horrible.

When: Afternoon
Lily didn't want to go back to work after her conversation with Brett, her discovery in the archives down at the Echo. She felt rather sick about it actually, so she detoured to the park instead. It was a nice day anyway and Lily could've sworn she saw the sun peaking through the clouds, they were so bright.
written while at the cathedral

I've been neglecting my journalings, but lately it seems I just can't find my voice. Even prayer seems exhausting today. I feel like I’m just throwing myself on my knees before the Lord and begging for something to change. I’m not used to feeling this desperate, and it scares me. There’s just so much that seems out of my control. I feel so out of touch with Danny, but I’m so worried about him; I just don’t know how to get him to let me in. I haven’t really tried—I’m afraid to force it, I suppose. And I’m afraid it’s something I did—or maybe didn’t do, who knows.

Who: Dutch and Maya
Where: The Walker residence
When: late afternoon
No two ways about it, Dutch didn't like doing this. He'd had to explain himself to some degree when he called the Drake, requesting the proper channels to actually make contact with the Walkers. With a specific Walker, in fact. So people had been suspicious, and Dutch had even gotten a shred of sympathy and a muttered 'good luck' from the man he'd spoken to. But he didn't have much choice, did he?

Who: Janey and Maddy
Where: St. Peter’s Cathedral
When: Afternoon
Janey had stayed after the morning’s memorial service, lost deep in prayer. She was in a trance-like state, hardly even aware of her physical surroundings, so she was surprised, after she crossed herself and opened her eyes to return to the real world, to see that the cathedral was nearly empty. She didn’t think she’d stayed for that long afterwards—but a look at the watch on her wrist told her she had.

Maddy felt like crap when she woke up that morning. She knew it wasn't because she was still hungover. That had been yesterday's issue (stupid boys). Today, well, she felt kind of hot. Everything kind of hurt, hell, even her eyes hurt. She wasn't coughing too badly though so that was a good sign. Right?

Who: Cheyenne and Danny
Where: On the streets
When: early evening
The conversation with Maya was still weighing heavily on his mind as Danny continued to patrol the streets, mostly just being a presence in the city today, rather than doing any real criminal work. A few people had stopped to shake his hand, more aware at what he'd done with the serial killer capture since the article in the paper about the ball. Still that didn't keep him from being completely distracted as he strode along the sidewalk.

Who: Brett and Lily
Where: Uptown
When: Late morning
Morning had come all too soon for Brett - or possibly not soon enough, he couldn't decide. He'd had the same unsettling dreams last night as he'd had in the few snatched moment when he'd dozed the night before, only more so since last night he'd actually gone to bed with the intention of getting some sleep. Three nights in a row without sleep wasn't something that he could do. Not if he wanted to stay sharp, and right now, he needed to be sharp.

The day held promise. The weather wasn't much different from usual but the slight break in the routine dreariness meant that there was a faint possibility of a sunny sky. Even if it may not have been today. Still, that small chance was still a chance, and the idea alone brightened Elle's spirits.
TIME UPDATE
Submitted by mods on Mon, 01/25/2010 - 09:49.
Weather: Today is a day full of scattered showers. It's cool out, and bright clouds overcast the sky. It's brighter than usual, but the sun never appears, and that rain keeps deciding it isn't done yet all day and into the night.
Events: Adam's jewellers down on Fourth was broken into overnight. Word is that the job was done by an independent - neither mob faction seems to know anything about it - and the DiGiovannis in particular are fuming about it - apparently they used that place as a front for laundering money, though it was one of they're incredibly QT outlets. More than likely, whoever did it, didn't know they just hit a mob place. There's going to be a lot of folks looking for those guys.
There's no word on whether the bounty on Johnny Tang has been claimed yet - some said he wouldn't last a day, other still hold that it'll be out there for a while yet. Everything is, of course, just rumours.
The theatre's got a new movie in today, just released, direct from Hollywood - apparently it's a good one as well. They're showing it back to back with an old-loved classic and have a special offer on tickets.
Dreams: Tonight's dreams are the same as last night's, causing some Wakings to experience reoccurring dreams: The world turns and is divided by the seasons. Those in the northern hemisphere are experiencing their coldest months, and with the recent disasters, many people have found themselves without food and power. In some areas people are quietly starving to death, but it is only a handful who stand up to even attempt to complain about this. Of those, many are shouted down by their neighbours, who see any complaint as against the new and accepted way of life. It the warmer climes and southern hemisphere, these problems are absent and life continues as normal.
If you have any events or anything going on which you think warrants a mention in the time update, please let us know!
