Her house smelled like flowers. Even by the stench of the river, the perfume of meadow was prominent. And yet, it wasn't a pleasant smell. Combined with the smell of smoke and money, it saturated her couches and hung heavy in the air over her head. It was funny how deceptive the little black balls of opium could be. Surely, nothing that smelled so strongly of springtime could be worth so much blood.

He'd made his point. He'd found her. She knew he'd found her. She knew she couldn't just walk out on him like that. He'd made the point. That didn't mean he was in a rush to see the bitch again. But it didn't mean he was going to leave her entirely, either. She left him, not the other way round.

Cheyenne didn't really want to be there. She had to be, of course, there was no way she could get out of it. Her presence was required, because it was her family's deal. The orphanage and all that, the party for it afterwards... She was a girl who loved social occasions, but usually the ones that her family were involved in were really high society ones that were mostly about appearances, not enjoying oneself. Still, she was there, she as talking to people, she was smiling at all the right times, laughing at people's jokes, and generally playing the role she knew she was meant to.
Just because she didn't really like the whole deal didn't mean she wasn't good at it. Either way, the party was in full swing, and there were tons of people everywhere. Time to mingle!
Developing Situation

Where: His darkroom in his studio.
When: Early morning
Henry had been working most of the night, but it was worth it. His shots from the park the day before had turned out perfectly. In addition to Cheyenne, he'd gotten some amazing pictures of another girl who was beautiful as well, but not even close to Cheyenne. He'd been worried he'd be caught when Cheyenne got out her camera, but the one time she'd almost looked in his direction was when the other girl had shown up and she turned around instead. That had been a close one.

Work never ends
Submitted by Ruby_Glint on Wed, 08/05/2009 - 23:13.Who: Ruby and OPEN
Where: The Rose and Pearl soup kitchen
When: Early morning
The second of January started like hundreds of days before. Ruby got up and made breakfast for herself and the twenty people who were under her wing at the Rose and Pearl. Last night they has sorted through the stock they had picked up after six in the evening. Shopkeepers and grocers got write offs for donating produce and goods they couldn’t sell to the paying public any more. Ruby could cut out bad spots, freshen up two day old bread and always found a use for meat bones of any kind.
TIME UPDATE
Submitted by mods on Wed, 08/05/2009 - 10:55.
Weather: Another cold and cloudy day – but at least it has stopped raining! The lack on fresh rain, however, only seems to emphasise the dreariness of the streets today.
Events: Today is the grand opening of the new Eidolon City orphanage! The building was donated to the city last summer by the Walkers and a deal managed by the Hagels has seen Walker, as well as some DiGiovanni and Giacomo money, go into its refurbishment as a brand new orphanage for the city’s unwanted and abandoned children. It has been a carefully orchestrated public relations drive for all of the DiGiovanni affiliates, led by the Walker and Hagel families and fully supported by all.
Whilst the orphanage is not yet populated, the building is open all day for citizens to come and look round the new facilities and tonight the DiGiovanni family are hosting a gala dinner in honour of the Walker family for their kind and generous donation to the city. All the great and good are invited (which includes the higher levels of both mafia outfits within the city) – but also, the DiGiovannis have arranged for there to be a ‘lottery’ for some of the tickets, meaning that random people from the lower echelons of society have, in the past few weeks, received invitations to the ball. There should be quite a mix of people in attendance!
Dreams: There are no dreams tonight.
If you have any events or anything going on which you think warrants a mention in the time update, please let us know!
