breathing space

eris hurtsidecut

who: Eris and Simon
where: the streets around the One More Round
when: night

Eris was officially an unhappy bunny. Her photograph had been printed in the paper, and sure, while it hadn't been printed again today, it was still dangerous for her. She'd recently spoken to not one but two fucking cops, and at the end of the day, that was just bad news for her all the way around. She'd been taken off of singing the night the picture was run, just to avoid anyone recognizing her while her picture was staring them straight in the face. She'd been told tonight would be 'off' as well. While she understood it, and actually thought it was a good idea, that didn't really kill the worry deep in her gut, nor did it alleviate the idea that her time at the One More Round was going to be shorter than expected.

It might wind up being more trouble than the owner was willing to chance. The possibility of her getting spotted and ratted out was a whole hell of a lot larger now. She didn't know what to do, really. She wanted to talk to Brett about it, but well. Brett wasn't around, possibly because of the photograph in the paper, and she hadn't expected him to return anyhow, now had she. No, really not. She was going for a walk, which consisted of her circling the block around the one more round. She had a coat on, a hood pulled up to obscure most of her features and she kept her head down. She knew she shouldn't be out at all, but she'd been climbing the walls in her place, so...she'd needed the air.

While she was still breathing.

greetings from the kitten club

who: ki and danny
where: the kitten club
when: early evening

Ki had bounced on into work early, having been told she was being loaned out to the Kitten Club this evening. She liked the Kitten Club. There was fun music, she got big tips, and told she was a cute little thing by a lot of the patrons. Of course, she also got told some other things by the patrons, but she didn't quite understand a lot of them so she ignored those things. Instead, she was generally speaking the brightest, most energetic bartender, or at least, that's what she was told. She always tried to do her best, not wanting to disappoint.

She squinted one eye shut as the manager on duty walked past grumbling at her about not speaking 'that monkey talk' since she had a habit of it occasionally. She didn't drop into Japanese all the time or anything, she just had worked out that some customers expected it from her, and therefore she accommodated. The manager just hadn't picked up on it as well, so there was a minor conflict. Either way, however, she smiled brightly, and apologized. "Sorry, Sir!" she said, then turned to the next customer, with the same bright, dazzling sort of smile on her face. "Hello! How may I help you?"

So what if it had been raining? Who cared about the drab skies left behind even when the rain stopped? Not Angelo, not on either score. He'd woken dreary as ever on the morning following a night with his pipe, but hopeful. Today was the day, the day of the sale.

TIME UPDATE

wine glass

Date: Thursday, January 6th

Weather: Yesterday’s rainstorms continue throughout the night and well into the morning, finally tailing off just before lunchtime. The rainclouds continue to loom throughout the afternoon, but no more rain falls, leaving the city just dull and very very wet.

Events: It seems that there is, at least, a silver lining to the furore over the murders and yesterday’s news story on missing persons. Though it doesn’t make the front page, there is a story on page 5 of the Echo about how one of the missing girls – a teenager by the name of Gillian Sanderson – found her way home yesterday, after she heard she was listed amongst the missing and thought dead. Today’s headline news though, is still the possibility that there is a ‘Ripper’ on the loose.

Today is 12th night – the twelfth day after Christmas – and, as such, many of the city’s night spots are holding special nights to celebrate, with free entry for all in most places.

Dreams: There are no dreams tonight for the Wakings.

If you have any events or anything going on which you think warrants a mention in the time update, please let us know!
