an apology

who: Danny
where: the florist
when: late morning

Danny was really annoyed. He'd not had time to go to the florist yesterday nor had he been in the right mood for it after his conversation with Zhen. He hated this sort of thing, but he needed to get it done because it just might help. Not that it mattered because Maya had fired him, but he was still worried about Cheyenne and worrying about her went easier when she would speak to him. Then at least he could check in on her on occasion. Going into the little shop he just sort of loitered until someone finally asked him what he needed.

"Um, daffodils? Like in a pot?" he asked, hoping it wasn't the same girl he'd yelled at on the phone. She nodded politely saying she had to run to the back to see what she had and while she was gone he wandered around the store, eyes drifting over all the flowers. He wish he had a list of the flower meanings like what Elle had said. His eyes were on another bouquet when the girl came back out, pot of daffodils in her hands.

Smiling he looked them over. He'd been wrong as to which flower they were, but he liked these too. "Can I have them sent to a specific address?" he asked. The girl handed him a form to fill out, address and such and a little note to put with the flowers. Danny wrote down Cheyenne's address on the form, scribbling a simple note on the card.

"I'm sorry, Danny"

His eyes went back to the other bouquet, a collection of pink roses, thinking about what Zhen had said about Janey. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to bring something home to his wife, show that he did care. "Can I get these too?" he asked picking up the bouquet with his good arm. The girl nodded, ringing up his order and Danny handed over the cash. He took the bouquet with him, leaving the pot of flowers to be delivered. It felt strange, buying flowers for both his wife and another woman at the same time, even if they had completely different meanings behind them. Though if he thought about it, they didn't, both were apologizing for falling short in some way or another.
