Who: Brett
Where: Babylon
When: Afternoon

Brett was playing things safe. or, as safe as he could. After he'd heard about the murder of Moira O'Malley, things went from serious to really damn serious. Jackson hadn't even done anything yet and the O'Malleys seemed pretty rocky. And they were definitely twitchy fuckers right now. Everyone was looking sideways at everyone else. Brett was finding out that he was actually pretty trusted - which was good, all things considered. And he'd worked hard for that trust, over the last few years. Today that work was paying off, since nobody had, even for a second, questioned his loyalty.

Still, he wasn't taking any chances, not ones he didn't need to take. And if it hadn't been for certain things, he wouldn't be taking any at all. he would have gone where they told him and stayed home when he wasn't under orders. Which was largely what he'd been doing.

But not entirely - because he did have something to get done, and with things going the way they were, he needed to move on it. In a perfect world, he would have waited a few more days, but his world was about as far from perfect as it could get. So he'd waited until he was sure that his loyalty wasn't being questioned right now and then he headed for Babylon.

Really, it wasn't that much of a stretch for him to be there, given it was owned and run now by his bosses. Usually, though, he'd be making a show of wanting to visit with one of the girls. Today was different.

He didn't go for subtle. Today was not a day for creeping down corridors, hiding in shadows. Instead, he put on his most sullen face and strode down the corridors of Babylon as if he owned the place - or, at least, as if he was on a mission from someone who owned the place. Which, depending on your point of view, he was.

In any event, he headed straight for the room he wanted, dismissing the girl inside gruffly, sending her off on some bullshit errand before following Eris' instructions. It didn't take him long to recover the box and he stuffed it under his jacket, before exiting the room before the girl came back. He walked out the back door, got into his car, and headed across town, leaving the box at gray's place, unopened, wanting to get as far away from it as quickly as possible. He knew he needed to open it, get at what was inside, but not right now. Things were too hot right now. It was out of there, and it was safe, hidden. The rest could wait - the rest wasn't worth getting killed over.
