Developing Situation

Who: Henry
Where: His darkroom in his studio.
When: Early morning

Henry had been working most of the night, but it was worth it. His shots from the park the day before had turned out perfectly. In addition to Cheyenne, he'd gotten some amazing pictures of another girl who was beautiful as well, but not even close to Cheyenne. He'd been worried he'd be caught when Cheyenne got out her camera, but the one time she'd almost looked in his direction was when the other girl had shown up and she turned around instead. That had been a close one.

The red light gave the photos and chemicals a sort of surreal glow, but it was necessary. Not to mention a bit comforting. He'd always felt comfortable in the darkroom, where it was just him and the little snippets of reality he'd captured. No one to judge him, no one to reject him, just the plain, simple truth that the photographs revealed. Taking the last one out of the pan, he hung it on the clothesline with the others to dry. Yes. These were excellent. Definitely worthy of places of honor. Just like her.

Leaving the darkroom and heading out into the apartment proper, Henry stretched and ran his fingers through his stringy hair. It was still dark at least, so it wasn't too early. Or late. Or early. Whichever it was, it was about time for him to go to bed. He had an appointment at 10 for some family portraits. Thoroughly boring and mundane. But he had one last chore to do before he went to sleep. He headed down to the basement and pulled the cord on the single lightbulb dangling from the ceiling, revealing the walls covered in photographs. He smiled as he looked around the room at his collection of beauties. And in the center of one of the walls was a picture of Cheyenne, in one of her pin-up poses. He walked up to it and kissed the picture. "Soon, my sweet. Very soon." He moved a chair aside and straightened up the dress on a mannequin before heading back upstairs.
