Families are the center
"Mom, Eddie thinks the worlds ending." A blond haired girl whirled into the room where a woman was watching the television. There was some sort of dancing and flag waving, maybe an old end of apartheid historical thing.
"Not another one." The woman rolled her eyes and looked at the child. "Does it SEEM like the world is ending? Don't listen to one of those fringe religious nuts." The woman had a photo album in her lap, turning the pages slowly. Lingering on a wedding picture here, a family photo there.
"Whatcha watchin? I wanted to watch the Funniest videos show." The nine year old tossed a book bag on a chair and flopped next to her mother. "We need some comedy here." She started to twirl a white blond curl around her fingers.
"A war in Africa ended. Both sides disbanded their military. It's a big celebration." The woman looked up from her photos. "Good news is better than comedy." However she handed the remote over to the child. The channel was changed to mindless entertainment without thought.
