Loose ends
Who: Jakob
Where: Outside Eris' building
When: Early evening
He hadn't been surprised that he couldn't get in to see Stockard, not with the way he just showed up without calling first. But he couldn't call from the station house, and his final case work with Sam hadn't exactly been opportune either.
Still, this wasn't something Jakob could leave untended. Tomorrow was going to be a grand start to things, and before he could have that start, he needed to tie up every loose end he had. There weren't many, which was a testament to Jakob's talent, and the files he'd given Eris were the most glaring error he still had. There was plenty of information that could've only come from him, after all.
He'd need those files back, and he'd need them soon. But there was no expectation of trouble on Jakob's part; he and Eris had an agreement. They wouldn't cross each other.
Strolling away from her building with a private smile despite the weather, Jakob glanced back once thoughtfully. He could already assume that the message he'd delivered had found its' way upstairs, or would soon. 'Will need files returned with all haste. The longer they're kept out of the station, the more likely it is that this will become an official matter. Let's avoid that mess. Call if there's complications.'
A simple note, vague and with no names, but if the door guard could describe Jakob then he was confident that Eris would recognize him. And once she did? Everything would make sense, and the threads of this loose end would be cut free. Smiling over that, Jakob hopped in his car and drove away into the gathering darkness. He had a last-minute fitting for a new uniform, and then for once, an early evening. Tomorrow was his day.
