Not Quite Disappointment
This morning, all hell broke lose.
I don't much appreciate it when that happens without my permission or knowledge, but I can't say I was entirely surprised, and I of course went with it.
I woke around dawn with Iakov practically screeching the place down. Five of his men - sloppy, is what I call it. To find out only as the police did. For the Syndicate to be hit that way and only find out from one of our police informants. I know I have been working to undermine the man, but still - I somewhat didn't expect the feeling of 'disappointment' at my success. It should have been harder than this.
It's strange to think of it that way, since it shouldn't have been. I planned this, I know the man better than he thinks I do. I know the buttons to push and whilst I did not orchestrate this, I've been working on the background, the groundwork, to ensure his reactions.
He feels like far too easy a target. Soon, maybe even days, he'll be gone I think - and at this rate, I won't even have to kill him myself. Which will only mean good things for me.
Whatever is going down in the city. Whatever angles I can't quite grasp - Iakov's days are ending, and mine are just beginning.
I can get over the disappointment at not even really having to work at it. There is, of course, only one possible issue - and that I have covered.
There will be retaliation. But she can take care of herself.
