Note left for Danny

questioning

Who: Maya
Where: ECPD
When: Afternoon sometime

Having talked to Cheyenne, there was no point in carrying on with things. Dearest Danny clearly wasn't getting the job done, so Maya was cutting him loose. She was disappointed - he could have been a valuable asset, had he worked out as planned. But he hadn't - and, worse than that, he'd made a problematic situation worse. She wouldn't be trying him out again. He'd failed the test. She didn't, however, think any permanent damage had been done, so there would be no immediate reprisals, no harsher terms. Simply the loss of what she could have done for his career and her watching him, aware that she could change her mind in that regard at any time. Maya could be a vindictive little bitch when she wanted to be, and she never forgot a slight. This one could come back to haunt him in the years to come, simply because she felt like it.

For the meantime, though, he just got a note, handwritten on thick, cream note paper in her elegant, looping handwriting, sprayed with a little of her perfume. Polite, subtle, delivered by her driver as she sat in the car outside, left on Danny's desk for him to pick up whenever he was around.

Dear Officer McKinnon

Please accept my sincere thanks for your aid and assistance with my recent problem. Your response to my request for aid was much appreciated, as was your offer of ongoing help. That, however, will not be required any longer. I understand that you wished to use your own methods and approach, however I do not think that, in this circumstance, they were quite what was needed and I am arranging for alternatives. I am sure that your other duties will command the attention of your uniform much more appropriately and long may they continue.

Yours

Maya Walker
