What a swell party it is...

Who: Moira and Open to EVERYONE!
Where: Rock Bottom
When: About 8 pm

Moira leaned back in her chair a little as she gazed out over the room. The opening was going very well, despite the dance being held in the park. That was likely due to the lack of alcohol and general concern over the current spate of murders going around town. Very curious, these murders. She knew none of them were sanctioned by the Syndicate, and she was fairly certain that they weren't the work of those Dagos, either. She'd have to use some of her contacts to get to the bottom of things. Making headway on these murders would definitely impress those at the top and maybe get her out of this rat hole.

Despite the thoughts going through her mind, Moira was still playing the perfect host. She'd made her little speech and was now smiling and toasting all the right people as the customers approached her "throne" and paid her proper respect. Yes, things were going quite well, really. Hopefully the evening would be free of incident. She'd noticed a few DiGiovanni associates in the crowd and given her men instructions to keep an eye on them, but do nothing unless provoked. The last thing she needed on her opening night was a gang war breaking out. The band finished their number and the crowd applauded, and Moira raised her glass to them with a shout of "Slàinte Mhath!" Yes. So far so good.

Ki had been sent over to see if Moira needed any extra help for the evening, though when she first entered the place, she was looking around and smiling like a girl fresh off the boat. But then again, Ki was easily amused, and liked looking at interesting things, and the place was all shiny and new. Therefore it probably took her just a couple minutes longer to find the woman in question than it otherwise might have. She stood off to the side and waited for the people currently speaking to the redhead to move along before she walked up and bowed slightly. "Greetings, Ma'am. I was wondering if I could be assistance to you tonight?" she asked, looking up and smiling brightly.

Anya bustled happily about

Anya bustled happily about the restaurant, serving drinks and food quickly to the patrons who had already gathered. It was busy, but the night was going well so she didn't really mind. The band was lively and nothing out of the ordinary had happened yet, so in her book that was a good thing. When she had served her last table, any a walked up to Moira to let her know how things were going. She smiled and waved brightly at the small Asian girl, who was standing up at the chair with Moira, and waited for her turn to speak.

Moira looked up to see the Chinese girl bowing to her. She was immediately taken back by how small she was. Even seated, Moira didn't have to crane her neck up nearly as high as she normally did with people. It also didn't hurt that the girl was very cute. Moira wondered how the girl would feel about taking on some extra duties. She leaned on the arm of her chair and gave the girl a sweet smile. "Oh, I'm sure I could find things for you to do, dearie." It was all she could do to keep from bring more explicit with her request, but the girl was kind of on loan to her, so best not to push too hard just yet. "Just keep the drinks flowing, dearie, you're doing splendidly," she purred. Just behind the little Oriental girl, she could see another one- the one she'd hired the other day. Her disposition changed instantly, as if another person had taken control of her. "Yes?" she asked, suddenly all business. She motioned to the first girl not to leave just yet, though.

.

Ki of course noticed the difference, but she made no show of it. In fact, she just beamed brightly, and stood there with her hands clasped behind her back, waiting like a little puppet like she was meant to. That didn't mean she wasn't paying attention. She just usually paid far more of it than anyone thought she did. It was why she had a load of secrets in her head. Bits and pieces of information on organizations all over the place. People thought she was invisible. Just some smiling little airhead, ready to do whatever was required, who didn't really think. That served her well, generally speaking.

Anya stepped forward and

Anya stepped forward and smiled brightly at Moira. She noticed how Moira's voice changed, but she wasn't easily intimidated, she had several abusive boyfriends and an abusive stepfather, fear was simply part of everyday life, so she wasn't the least bit shaken when she spoke.

"Sorry to disturb you Ma'am, I was just coming up here to let you know that so far everything is running smoothly with the waitstaff. At the moment everyone is seated and drinks are flowing. I just wanted to know if there was anything else you needed me to do, if not I will just wait until a customer needs me." She finished brightly, her mood still bubbly as ever.

Moira sighed. The girl had interrupted her to tell her everything was fine? Hardly worth bothering her, especially on a night when she'd been feeling so good. Controlling her temper, she straightened up a little. "Excellent. Well then, get back out there and make sure everything keeps flowing smoothly." It wasn't helping that the girl was so damned perky. She hated perky.

She turned to the Asian girl and immediately shifted personalities again. "So, dear, I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name earlier, I don't believe." She patted the girl's hand, indicating that she wasn't quite ready for her to leave yet.

.

Ki glanced down at her hand, mildly surprised. But then again, she came from a culture where casual touching like that wasn't generally done. Still, though, she smiled brightly. "Ki, Ma'am. So sorry I didn't introduce myself, I had thought you knew." she said apologetically. "My employers send their regards and best wishes, and hope that your night goes smoothly. Anything you need me to do to ensure that I'm here for!"

Danny slipped into the bar quietly, nodding slightly at the bouncer who eyed him closely and the made his way to the bar. At one point he thought he saw someone that look like little Ki, but he wasn't sure. Plus she was so small he eventually lost her in the crowd. That wasn't important though. He'd found the bar and ordered a drink. As his beer came he did what the family had sent him there to do. He scanned the room and made a note of who was there, spotting a few Giovanni's here and there, but that was it. At least there was beer at this assignment.

Someone associated with the DiGiovanni family but not at all there on business was Cheyenne, who just wanted to see what the club had to offer on it's opening night. She'd been feeling down, and wanted to remedy it, so she was there, more or less sticking to darker shadows, and watching the patrons, admiring the decor, all of it. Trying to soak up the atmosphere, as it were. When she spotted someone she recognized, she headed over and tapped him on the shoulder, smiling. "Hello, Officer." she said.

Danny turned and flashed his visitor a rare smile. “Cheyenne. How nice to see you. Have a seat,” he told her motioning to the empty stool next to him. “I thought I’d see you before now, down at the precinct filing a complaint. Is it safe to assume no one’s been bothering you since our last run in?” While asking Danny motioned for the bartender to head in their direction, so Cheyenne could order.

It wasn't often that Helen

It wasn't often that Helen Kinney entered a bar. Prohibition had been lifted only a few years prior to her reaching womanhood and it still was not advantageous of the female persuasion to enter a tap room by herself. Often times it was not even allowed by the owners of certain establishments. She knew from experience that the only women entering and exiting a liquor house were those of ill repute. Helena did not want to be labeled as a slag or a drunk. But, with Jesse angry at her and Eddie unable to escort her to places she shouldn't go alone to, she had no other option to visit the Rock Bottom's opening night by herself.

Nervous? Yes, she was nervous but Helena was also excited. She'd taken the opportunity to dress up and she crossed her fingers that she would be noticed by any one of the people she wished to gain information from. Being a woman, she figured her best chance of extracting information from certain forces was to be her own force.

In hind sight she should have considered blending in but going out was always a special occasion and she couldn't stomach underplaying her assets. Dressing was something Helena was gifted with and so she stood out among the crowd of bar goers and guests. She had picked out a dress with a golden hue and the golden thread that ran through it gave the evening just enough sparkle. The rich burgundy of the wall paper and the deep brown of the wood paneling throughout the Irish Pub made her stand out; she was effervescent like champagne. Her up-swept blonde hair seemed to glow like a halo in the dim light of the restaurant.

Entering the Rock Bottom, Helena removed her jacket and searched for some place to sit. The place was crowded and she had a hard time finding any empty places to squeeze through. She tapped on a shoulder and said, "Excuse me."

.

Ki looked round at the very pretty lady, and beamed up at her. "Apologies! Am I in your way, ma'am? So sorry." she said, moving back to get out of her way, and she bowed slightly. "Can I get you anything for the trouble?" she asked. Since she was working. Sort of. She still wasn't entirely sure, what with the way Ms. O'Malley had been speaking to her. But that had just been a bit confusing, and therefore she wasn't thinking about it much.

"It's alright." Helena

"It's alright." Helena replied, hanging back while the young girl spoke. To Helena, the girl looked like a child and instantly she wondered about who was running this joint. But, that was just one problem. The other problem was Eddie always ordered for her when they came to places like this. "Maybe a glass of wine?" She requested and then added, "White" as an after thought. She didn't want to get bumped by an elbow and ruin her dress with a splash of Merlot.

.

"Right away, miss!" she said brightly. "I'll be back in just a moment!" she promised, then turned to scurry off through the crowd towards the bar, so she could get the woman her drink. It was easier for Ki, because she just kind of ducked down and darted through the place, not knocking shoulders with people, just making her way easily below the radar. She made her same way back, appearing and holding the glass of wine to the woman. It was a generous amount as well. Ki liked to give people a good amount of whatever.

Helena took the glass. The stem of the glassware dangled from between her thin fingers. "That was quick."She commented, meaning it more as a compliment to Ki more than anything else. "What do I owe you?" She opened her pocket book, guessing that a serving of wine couldn't be more than a dollar.
