Fontaine Park is coming alive tonight, full of music, lights and wonder! The park will be closed today to prepare for the Gala, but will be opening up promptly at six o'clock! All cover costs paid at the gates will go towards helping the city repair damages caused by the last storm, as well as issues that previously existed! So come help out your city, your neighbors and yourself! Anyone wanting to participate in the entertainment of the evening is encouraged to do so, as well as any vendors that would like to come! The cost for participating will be a small percentage of your earnings. Entry costs for the Gala will work on a sliding scale. So everyone should be able to attend! Come One, Come All!

Agreement has been reached on the balance of agricultural trade between the US and Canada. Whilst this agreement is still in its infancy, the major points have now been agreed upon and there are high hopes for a more stable future for both countries.
Greta Simmons (47) baked cookies all round as a thank you for all involved when the Eidolon City Fire Department were called out at 4pm yesterday to rescue Snuggles (14) - Simmons' ginger tabby who had managed to get stuck up an oak tree on the edge of Fontaine Park, where Simmons lives. Simmons is the proud owner of 23 cats and often takes in strays and she is quoted as saying that never before have any of her cats ever required the help of the emergency services. She could not praise the efforts of the men enough and has said that she will be delivering a fresh batch of cookies to them twice a week from now on.

Having gotten a message that Huck wanted to meet up with him, Charlie headed to the park at the suggested time. He wasn't sure what this was going to entail, though he would admit that he probably did need to talk to the guy. After what happened with Dodge, and the subsequent events, a conversation was due. Possibly overdue. So, he got to the park, got some roasted peanuts, then started to stroll around til he spotted the man in question. Walking over, he gave Huck a nod, and sat down on the bench next to him. "Hey." he greeted.

Shoshannah hadn’t been home for very long when she was dressed again, this time down in a pair of trousers and a black button down, and headed out on the town again. She wasn’t exactly in the best of spirits, even though she’d kept her smile as best she could today after the news she’d had.

Maddy returned from breakfast with Jason back to the gallery to resume cleaning up her things. She hadn’t seen her employer yet and wondered when she might see the woman. Maddy didn’t want to just leave a note saying that she could no longer work at the gallery -- not after everything Shoshannah had done for her. Sighing a little she set an empty box on her desk and putting her personal things in there: sketchbooks, some pencils and charcoal, and other little things that she’d collected over time.

Vera would have preferred to do this on her own, without Rachel, but it made sense to bring Rachel along. It was good for the girls to meet Charlie, since he was going to be their body guard for all intents and purposes, but Vera, selfish as she was, wanted time alone with Charlie. The reaction Lily had about him had left her curious, wondering if she could turn him, manipulate him as well. He wasn’t going to take Lily from her.

They’d started earlier than usual, an excuse for Lucas to leave the office early. It was a slow news day in his eyes anyway. Cops shot, serial killers caught? The more time Miles had to himself, the more he found he didn't like it. It wasn't being without people specifically, it was being without her. Nighthawks had been doing well out of him - any shifts that needed picking up, he was there, anyone who needed someone to cover, he was there. Keeping busy worked for him. He could fill his mind with all the tasks of the diner and let everything else slide. Mostly.

It has been officially reported that Eric Martens, revealed yesterday to have confessed to being The Tyger, has been captured and taken into custody by Eidolon City Police, bringing an end to his one man campaign of murder and mayhem (see editorial on page 6). The brave officer behind the arrest is reported to be Detective Daniel McKinnon who single handedly brought the Tyger to justice. There are calls from the city elite for McKinnon's bravery to be officially recognised by the city, though there has been no official response to these calls at time of going to press.
Detective Brett Trent was shot and wounded in a fight which broke out in the notorious bar, The One More Round, last night. It is not clear what Trent was doing in the bar, but it is widely known throughout the city that the 'Round' - as it is so often known - is generally 'off limits' to Eidolon City's finest. It is possible that Trent, who has featured repeatedly in these very pages for various brave and valiant deeds, had gone in alone to aid in the fracas against rumored ECPD policy that no officer should enter the bar alone. There has been no official statement on the shooting.

Today, acclaimed singer Marian Anderson will perform at the Lincoln Memorial, having being denied the right to sing to an integrated audience at the Daughters of the American Revolution's Constitution Hall. This move another in a long line of protests against race prejudice in within our national borders and another call for full integration of all public facilities.
News Just In! We are getting the first reports that the Axis powers are once again moving to spread their plague further across Europe. It seems that, even as we go to press, invasion of Denmark and Norway is under way. Little is known about those countries' abilities to resist such an attack, but the populations are in our thoughts and in our prayers. We have confirmation that there will be a special mass held at 7pm tonight in St Peters Cathedral to pray for all those involved in the war, be they civilians or the brave soldiers willing to fight and die for the freedoms of others.

By the time he arrived at what would in a few days be Eily’s club, Jason felt a bit like a ghost. His breakfast with Maddy had helped a little but he’d had no appetite since and that coupled with not enough sleep had left him pale and pinched-looking. The building was open, a few workmen were still at task so he let himself in, looking around for a tell-tale blonde head and frowning when he couldn’t see one. Eily hadn’t been at the hotel and he hadn’t wanted to wait for her there but now he was wondering if that had been a mistake if she’d already left for the day. The little stage where she had sung for him was still there and the sight of it would’ve made him smile if not for recent events. Still though he went over to it and sat down on it’s edge, not caring if his already rumpled clothes picked up a coating of dust and tried to figure out if he should stick around a little or just head back to the hotel.

Annaliese led the way, which was customary when they were going somewhere with the pure intention of being social. Toni didn't really do 'scocial'. That was Annaliese's job. They were following through on the idea that they'd offer themselves up for any work that may need doing in the wake of the tragic events, that they were going to ensure they were still on people's minds. Alexi was a good way to go about that.

Or, it probably wasn’t, but it felt over. Martens had been arrested, taken into custody by Danny. God, but it felt over, like things could get back to how they were meant to be. And Danny could be the hero of the hour. Brett figured the guy would probably lap that up, and even if Danny didn’t, Brett was just glad that it wasn’t him for once. Not him that had to field the press hacks and hangers on who wanted to bask in reflected - and so often false - glory.

Adelaide had chosen their new house as the one Robyn had shown her. She'd slowly started to bring the girls around, show them the new place, and tell them to start moving their things to their new home. Not that they had much in the way of things, but if there were items in there it would hopefully deter others from stealing the place out from under them.
