Character Profile

Name: Lucas DiGiovanni aka Lucas Spitfire

Age: 38

Gender: Male

Type: Aspect

Appearance:

Lucas is tall, over six feet, and appears to have an athletic build, though he's not athletic at all and his physique is more the result of replacing too many meals with booze and cigarettes. He cleans up well, and though his features are sharp and not traditionally handsome, if he wants to be, he can be quite dashing. Of course most of the time though he tends to look disheveled, his dark hair an unruly set of curls, and as if he slept in his clothes. Which is fitting because he typically has.

Unruly and disheveled as he may be, there's still that sense of wealth about him. Even though his button down and slacks are wrinkled as he makes his way into work, they are still the best clothes money can buy.

He's got several tattoos but the most prominent two are the DiGiovanni crest on his left shoulder blade and "dolus bonus" ('permissible deceit' in Latin) in gothic letters across his chest.

Personality:

It's difficult to fit Lucas' personality into one neat little box due to the fact that his mood can change on a whim. If he's in a good mood he can be charming, charismatic and the life of a party. People are drawn to him and he loves being the center of attention, perfectly capable of playing the part of the rich playboy. In reverse, if he's in a bad mood he can be abrasive, saracastic and an all around asshole. The swings in his mood can be offset by something, or just come out of nowhere with no good reasoning behind them.

He's stubborn and self centered, loving to hear himself talk about anything and assuming he's always right. It's impossible to change his mind once it's made up, even if everything points in the direction that he's wrong.

No matter his mood though, Lucas is always impulsive, prone to making decisions on a whim without any real forethought to potential outcomes. In addition, he's quite the practical joker, always eager to play a trick on someone or make someone the butt of his joke.

Sexuality:

straight

Constants:

Mercutio

Mercurial - To be mercurial is to have a rapidly changing or unstable mood. Lucas' mood can swing back and forth on a whim without any warning. Sometimes there's a reason why he goes from being a charming guy to a total jerk, but more often than not it just happens. What mood he'll be in is unpredictable, but when he's there his behavior isn't.

Family Oriented - Being a DiGiovanni, Lucas has never wanted for anything in his life. Though in a way he's spoiled, he also realizes where it comes from and in his head he's pledged himself to the family no matter what. He's even sacrificed his dream of being a war correspondent to keep them out of trouble as best he can by lending his spin on things at The Echo.

Reckless - Lucas is impulsive and considers himself mostly infallible. As a result he tends to jump into situations without thinking them through, taking unnecessary risks without actually considering the options that might not require such risks.

Aspect Origin - In his origin, Lucas demands the spotlight even more than he had before. He is prone to waxing eloquently on his own topics, open about how loyal he is to those on his side, and more likely to fall into an altercation on behalf of someone else or at his own whim.

City History:

Lucas had grown up with dreams of being a world famous reporter. The type that sailed the seas, wrote about his adventures and joined the troops on the frontline as a war correspondent. Of course, none of that really worked out the way he planned. Being a nephew of the head of the family, he wasn't in line to inherit the family, so the family was willing to let him follow his dreams. Using they're money and standing it was seen to that he had everything he could want, good schooling, a slot at a well known university and a job waiting for him at the Echo when he graduated. All he had to do was climb the ranks and in a few years, less if he greased some pockets, he would be off exploring the world and writing about it.

Once he took his place at the Echo though, he found himself banished to the bottom of the ranks, forced to report on nonsense for the society page and obituaries because they wouldn't print his last name anywhere else in the paper. Out of that he developed a pen name, Lucas Spitfire, a play on both his personality and the name of an airplane used in the war he so badly wanted to be writing about.

With the pen name in place he was finally able to move up at the Echo, learning quickly that his own family was a constant target for other investigators. Loyal to his name, Lucas quickly started deflecting the worst of the news away from the family, soon becoming their person at the Echo. His own targets became the other major crime families in town, investigating their wrong doing and suggesting they were at hand for any misdeed done in the city, even if they weren't related in anyway. His investigations went beyond the normal expectations for any reporter, and he started sticking his nose in things where he didn't belong, looking for more and more dirt on his family's competitors. His obsession engulfed most of his career, leading him to working late nights and taking whatever risk necessary (and some unnecessarily) to get the scoop. While his stories do tend to have a specific slant to them, he's still known was one of the best reporters the city has, and if there's something to see, he's there almost as quickly as the cops (sometimes before).

The more he became involved in his career, the more his personal life slipped to the wayside. For a long time he was one of the family's most eligible bachelors, and in some ways still is, but nothing ever stuck properly. There were women, lots of women, usually either girls picked up in bars, hookers, or the occasional "good match" for him whom he typically bedded and then moved on to something else. It frustrates the hell out of the family, but he's good at what he does so they tend to look the other way when it comes to his womanizing.

Just because there were women didn't mean that the void in the pit of him was filled in anyway. They were entertaining for the moment, but they couldn't satisfy him the way he wanted to be, most of them fragile things that would break under his touch or willing to be plied in whatever way he wanted. What he needed was someone willing to stand up against him, someone who could handle what he dished out, but at the same time dish it back to him. During an investigation into the darker entertainments that the city had to offer (in hopes to find it connected to a different family he could pin with the allegation) he found December and quickly became one of her regular clients.

At first their normal sessions were enough, leaving him reeling for more, but still satisfied. Lately though, he'd started wanting more, pushing the envelope in both possessive and sexual ways. So far he's not made any headway, but that hasn't stopped him from trying.

Special Skills and Abilities:

The man can spin a story like it's his job. which it is.

Weaknesses:

impulsive - Lucas rarely things things through. Instead he chooses to act completely on how he's feeling in any given moment, no matter what the eventually outcome might be. Sometimes it leaves him with quite the mess to clean up, but that doesn't seem to phase him any, nor teach him any sort of lesson.

pain addict - Lucas is obsessed with pain, both receiving and dishing it out. He enjoys the feeling it brings out in himself, but he also likes watching how people react to it. And he's not limited to just physical pain. To Lucas, there's just as much to be enjoyed from causing someone emotional pain as well.

pushes things too far - If there's a boundary, Lucas will cross it. He digs too deep in stories he works and he takes jokes too far. He's constantly pushing the envelope, just to see how far he can get, completely ignoring whatever danger that might lie in wait.

hotheaded - With a mood that can change on a whim, he's got a short temper to go with it. The slightest thing can piss him off and next thing he's throwing punches. He's the first guy into a brawl and the last out.

reviles against stability - Lucas is a man who likes chaos. He loves the noise of a busy bar or a downtown riot. He loves spending his days pouring over stories he doesn't have answers to, or stirring the pot with his articles. What he doesn't like? The idea of settling down, a standard nine to five and being consistent.

self centered - Lucas lives for being the center of attention. He's the type of guy who can have lunch with someone and never ask them a single thing about them. He'll commandeer the anyone's conversation so he can claim that limelight.

holds grudges - If you cross Lucas once, it'll come back to you threefold. He's the type of man who rarely forgives and almost never forgets. He's still got grudges he's holding onto from childhood, because they are that important to him.

Strengths:

charming when he wants to be - If Lucas cares enough to turn it on, he can be just as handsome and charming as any other male member of the DiGiovanni family. It gets him what he wants when he wants it and it keeps his mother out of his hair.

loyal -If someone has the pleasure of being on Lucas' good side, then he or she has is devotion. He's loyal to those he trusts, those he doesn't have a grudge against. Above all though, he's loyal to the family, willing to take risks for them without second thought.
