Though not abnormally tall, she stands taller than most women, a trim figure with long legs that lend to her height. Personality:

Vera can be either your best friend or your worst enemy. For those on her good side she’s a beautiful person to be around. She’s the person people want to tell their deepest, darkest secrets to, the one who helps them find that desire that they didn’t even realize they had. And she promotes going for that desire, it’s all a chase for that passion.

On her bad side though is a scary place. There is no wrath like that of Vera scorned and she will make every moment of someone’s existence miserable if given a reason to. She’s the type to double cross even her close friends for a slight, the type to go to the end of the world to hurt someone who’s hurt someone close to her.

Everything for Vera is rooted in herself, her wants and her passion. No emotion is small and very little she does doesn’t benefit her. Even when she’s helping someone else it’s because of how it makes her feel better or how much she enjoys the attention.

Holds a grudge - Vera isn’t the woman to cross. All it takes is one scorn to turn her away from a person and that’s something that she never gets over. Beauty is only skin deep - Though absolutely lovely and well cared for on the outside, she’s hardly a nice person on the inside. Under that perfect smile and grace is a woman who would turn on her closest friend in an instant if it got her what she wanted.

Covets all that isn’t hers - Vera wants so much, especially if it’s the best of things. She wants the best looking, well paying clients, the most stunning looking friends, the nicest things. What she can get her hands on she will take, even if someone is manipulated out of what they have, she’ll go for it without a second thought.

City History:

Vera’s mother knew from the day her daughter was born that she’d be nothing but trouble. Even as a baby she had the same striking looks she has as an adult, a full head of hair and gray eyes that got whatever they wanted. The excuse the doctors gave for her mother’s condition after the birth was blamed on possible complications with the birth, but the nannies and nurses that came through the house had speculation it was something the baby had done herself in order to be the only woman in her father’s life.

By the time she was five she had her father and his household wrapped around her finger and by her early teens, boys were a problem. They followed her home from school, carried her books and mostly catered to what she wanted. Nervous at their attentions her father pulled her out of school, confining her to the house and a tutor. The tutor didn’t stand a chance either and soon fell to Vera’s charm as well. Continued worrying and seeing what sort of prize he had on his hands her father started searching for her husband. At sixteen she was betrothed to Marcus Johnson, an older business man who was wealthy yes, but plain, dull and lacking in the looks department. Vera hated him.

She spent a year attempting to talk her father out of the marriage but to no avail. Fed up with his rules and nonsense she left, taking as much as she could carry with her and what money she had access to.

The first time she turned tricks it wasn’t for the money. It was more for the thrill, to entice someone else and draw them to her and get what she wanted in return. Who her clients were meant little to her, but the act itself, to feel that longing to go from being Vera to being whatever the other person longed for, that was the thrill in it.

Things weren’t always in her control on the streets though and not long after she was caught under a dangerous hand, a pimp who wanted to keep her for his own as much as he wanted her to bring in money for him. He got his hands on her once again, but this time there was someone else there, Eris, and next thing Vera knew the two of them were standing and the man was on the ground, bloody from the edge of Eris’ knife.

It took little to convince Vera to join Eris as soon as Babylon started and she quickly became a favorite to many clients. Her clients though were typically dedicated to just her, the way she liked them. Those that bounced to other girls as if it were nothing lost their place on her card, shunned away from her door.

When the management changed at Babylon many of the girls considered leaving, making a run for it, but not Vera. Vera had come into this on her own and she would be damned if she let someone run her out. No, she waited, suffering under the hands of the O’Malley men for being outspoken, for not giving up the memory of her friend Eris and for often flat out refusing to bend to their will. When freedom came, she celebrated, barely hesitating again before signing up for the escort service Eris set up. It wasn’t quite as much fun as it had been at Babylon, but Vera found that the prolonged amusement was just as enjoyable, and making heads turn in high society was just as amusing as well.

Stubborn - Vera is stubborn to the point of it getting her hurt. She suffered more than once at the hand of the O’Malleys, not enjoying their treatment and opinions on how things should be at Babylon. Though it often gets her what she wants, it rarely comes with out a major price.

Jealous - Vera always wants to be the best, the prettiest and she hates anyone who might garner more attention than she has. She live for that attention and is more than willing to steal it back from whomever took it.

Self-Centered - There’s only one person who matters to Vera, herself. Her family betrayed her in trying to stunt her potential and her friends are good people, but she knows better than to put too much faith in those who have seen the dark side of life. She does all things for herself and everything is rooted in her own egotism.

Fiance - Her fiance is still out there, still assuming that she’s his. So far she’s managed to avoid him. She believes he won’t do anything more than roll over and let her walk out on him all together, but she also knows full well that she has nothing to base that on. She knows next to nothing about him other than the fact that she doesn’t like him, nor does she know what he’d do to her if he finds her.

Selfish - Vera has a firm belief that’s what hers, is hers and no one else is allowed to touch it. Her clients come to her only and if she hears that they are with others, she refuses to see them. She won’t stand for being a second choice of anyone, she shouldn’t have to be anyone’s second choice. It’s first or not at all. Heaven help those who try and test this attitude or cross her. Wrath wells up in the worst kind of way.

Strengths:

Strong Willed - Part of it is linked to how stubborn she is, but Vera is extremely strong willed. She refuses to back down, even when she should or she’s wrong. It’s helped her survive the worst of what she’s been through and given her a the strength to push onward.
