Character Profile

Name: Ian Benedict Sullivan

Age: 29

Gender: Male

Type: Aspects - Other

Appearance:

Ian is a taller guy, about 6'3", but since his height would make him stand out more, he slouches in order to appear closer to six feet. His build is average and his face clean shaven and free from any directly distinguishing marks. He keeps his hair short because it's curly and the shorter length makes it easier to manage. The overall impression one gets from him is one of familiarity and yet obscurity. Ian could be both the guy you grew up with or another face in the crowd. Over the years he's found his ability to blend has made it easier for him to situate himself in places where he can best obtain or push whatever he needs at any given moment.

His style is clean cut and somewhat preppy, often dressed in the same clothes he'd wear to work even in his free time. He wears a silver band on his right hand ring finger, and if asked about it he claims it was his mother's wedding ring. Around his neck is a silver cross, although he lacks actual faith but he finds it adds to his role as one of the "nice guys".

Personality:

Upon first meeting Ian, most find him charming in that "boy next door" kind of way. He's the type of guy who can easily make friends with a room full of people and he alway seems quite supportive and always on the side of the person he's talking to. He comes off as loyal, but a little dull.

Deep down Ian couldn't be farther from his portrayed demeanor. He's cunning and ruthless, quick to switch to the winning side of the game, without anyone sensing the switch. His background is hard to trace, and although he seems like someone everyone knows, there isn't a definite explanation of where he came from. More than anything, he's only survived this long because he's far smarter than anyone else around him.

Sexuality:

mostly hetero, but he'll seduce any sex he needs to in order to get what he wants.

Constants:

Sadistic - The worst always seems to appeal to Ian and bringing out the worst in people is even better. It's all about torturing someone's soul, but it's best done indirectly. Sure there is fun in actually physically hurting someone, but he's not built for that. No, instead he'd rather play into their emotions, wants, desires, deepest and darkest secrets and force them to give into that which torments them.

Undermining - Ian will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Power, money, women, or just pure fun, no loyalties or allegiances mean enough to him to keep him from what he needs. Faster than you can turn around he'll stab your back, and then turn the tables again, forcing you think he was a double agent all along and hadn't let your side for an instant. But when the chips fall, and they will, he'll always be on the winning side.

Jealous - Ian's jealousy doesn't apply to the people in his life, because he doesn't bother with any actual emotional connections to anyone. No, his jealousy lies in his constant want for something more. The grass is always greener on the other side and Ian should know, he's tried them all.

City History:

Ian grew up intermixed with the DiGiovanni family. The story is that his mother was married in, in love with one of the scummier and stupider members who eventually got himself killed off. The only problem is, no one is really sure. All they know is that Ian's been around his whole life, belong to someone or another and bouncing from living with Aunt someone or Uncle whomever as he grew up.

Once he hit his twenties, higher up family members took pity on him, giving him small jobs here and there and once he showed to not be a moron and obviously not muscle, like most of the other actual bloodline family members they gave him a comfortable manager position the Drake Hotel. He spends most of his time there, making it comfortable for those with money and giving the higher ups in the family the perfect meeting place when they need it.

More importantly, no one considered Ian to be of much worth. Sure h was smart enough to make sure the hotel held together, but not to definitely not smart enough to understand family operations. As a result, few people watched their tongue around Ian. Who cares if he hears about the inner issues of the family? He's not going to understand it anyway.

Ian has been able to use this to his advantage and he's realized, that although they'd always been on top, that might not always be the case for the DiGiovannis. With the Syndicate moving in and the OMalley's starting to gather steam, Ian has realized that one day the family he'd spent his life creating a niche in, might be at the bottom of the pile sooner than he'd like.

To combat this he's started looking to court contacts from both of the Family's competitors in order to secure his way out of any mess unscathed. His biggest selling point is the Drake Hotel itself. Sure the DiGiovanni's own it, but Ian's making it so only he can run it. Right now, no one cares, but when it comes down to it, the hotel can't function without him. The DiGiovanni's won't be able to fall back on it if they lose the turf war. It's a dirty job, but crumbling with the Family, well that's not really acceptable. Hell, they aren't really his family anyway.

Special Skills and Abilities:

Ian's adept at running the hotel without much effort on his part. Really though, he's just good at convincing people that what he's giving to them, is exactly what they wanted.

Weaknesses:

No personal connections: Ian lacks any emotional attachments to anyone besides himself. While it aids in his efforts to control people without concern for their well-being, it makes for a life that leaves him wanting. It drives his jealousy and his want for what others have only he hasn't realized yet that what's missing is that personal connection he refuses to make.

Color blind: Ian can't see color at all. Everything looks like a black and white movie. Really it's just fitting, because he figures that's the way the world works anyway.

Overconfident: He's been doing this all his life and he hasn't lost yet. Ian has developed an unhealthy confidence in his own ability and he think he's unflappable. Obviously this isn't the case and when he falls he's going to fall hard.

Coward: If there's one thing Ian's never done his whole life, it's actually get himself into a fight. Manipulate others to fight his battles for him? Sure. But you won't find him there, mixed in with everything, taking blows, no matter how much of the blame lays on him. No, he'll be in the background, letting everyone else do the dirty work and reap the benefits.

Strengths:

Charismatic: No one can resist Ian. At first meeting most people find him charming and easy to get along with, but not overpowering. He just seems like an easy going guy you can trust with your secrets, because he's the last person to turn on you. Promise.

Deeply connected to the DiGiovanni family
