Character Profile

Name: Lillian Jean Mayfair

Age: 30

Gender: Female

Type: Aspects - Fairytale

Appearance:

While Lily considers herself rather plain, she is a rather lovely woman of average height (5'5"). She isn't one to wear make up but is starting to come around to the concept. She has large, bright brown eyes and thick brown hair that falls down her back in waves or is pinned up. She is of healthy weight. Not so skinny that she looks like a stick, but enough that she clearly is well fed. She has a wide, friendly smile and freckles across her cheeks and nose.

Lily is usually seen in plain and respectable clothes. Long skirts and dresses in navys and greys, but her favorite, bright splash of color is red and has several blouses and a well loved jacket and hat in the color. However Lily is dressing more and more... not so much provocatively, but more her age and more attractively.

Marks: A long, wide scar on her upper left arm from where her father hit her with a beer bottle.

Personality:

Lily is very friendly, warm, and sweet, if a bit nervous. She's very approachable and the right people can certainly take advantage of her if they decide to but thankfully nothing terrible has happened yet. Living with an angry and formidable grandmother has gotten Lily into the habit of being absolutely terrified to confess to messing up or doing something wrong. Getting caught too many times reading books instead of doing her homework or chores and being yelled at has permanently frayed her nerves. Depending on the situation, Lily will stand up for someone, although that tends to be only around the children who come to the library.

Lily is an optimist, always looking for the best in people, something not always easy to find in Eidolon City. She tries to help whomever she can in whatever way possible.

Not only optimistic, but she's a romantic as well, harboring crushes long past their probably expiration date. After all, ever since a group project in class, Lily has always held a torch in her heart for Jesse James since a group project back in school, not to mention unrequited love for Mr. Darcy in Pride & Prejudice.

Lily wishes she was stronger and more outspoken, being able to stand up for herself instead of crumbling under a glare. But until she can get away from her grandmother, that won't happen.

Sexuality:

Heterosexual

Constants:

Has an elder matriarch figure: Despite being the same age, Maya Walker has seemed to have taken on the role of a motherly-type figure in Lily's life, guiding her into the "light" so to speak. Maya has been responsible for Lily's new outlook on herself and a great force in the boost of self-esteem that Lily has developed. She is blissfully unaware that she has indebted herself to the mob. In her eyes, Maya is simply a very nice, well intentioned (although intimidating) woman who Lily feels that they are developing somewhat of a friendship.

Has an oppressive force in her life: Now that Lily is away from her old house, away from the circles of society she used to associate with, Lily has to face different obstacles. Coming from money, Lily has never gone hungry or wanted for anything. She lived in a perfectly comfortable existence. It makes it hard to relate to people, something she's starting to find more and more common and she isn't sure what to do. It marks her as an outsider and while Jenny doesn't seem to mind, she knows it makes other people uncomfortable when they learn about her family name. She knows she's ignorant and is trying to find ways to figure things out.

Must make a journey of some description: That bit of world that she calls her own has expanded now that she's moved out into the world, however her journey still hasn't ended. Lily has to learn what life is like without a constant, fully stocked pantry, paying rent, noisy neighbors, and everything else that comes in living out in the world. And it's not like she's in some swanky apartment by the park. It's a crash course in 'Real World Education'.

City History:

Lillian Jean Mayfair was the only child born to Eidolon City Police Chief Richard Mayfair and City Socialite Pansy Pennington. After the economy took a hit in her early childhood and her mother ran off with the chauffeur, Richard became less of a loving father and more of a workaholic. With the rising crime rates, he started to turn to drinking and if she thinks hard enough, Lily can remember small episodes of abuse she endured during her father's drunken rages. At age 8, Lily's grandmother, Agatha Pennington, took her away from her father to live in the old Queen Anne Victorian near the Eidolon Museum of Art.
Richard died of mysterious circumstances only a week later.

Agatha Pennington was already a stern, harsh woman and the last remnants of the vibrant young girl that Lily used to be died early under her grandmother's care. Deemed 'not pretty enough' to be "bred" for a respectable marriage, Lily was officially pulled from St. Anne's School for Girls and was left to make her way through public school. She was able to skip the fourth grade, but this did not give her an educational advantage. It instead isolated the young girl even more, although she was able to make the occasional acquaintances, nothing ever seemed to last no matter how much she wanted (and needed) it to.

Lily escaped into her books, preferring the adventures of heroes and princess, Jane Austin and Louisa May Alcott, to being yelled at by a woman with questionable feelings and school children who could be quite mean.

Lily has never been on a date. The closest she's ever come to first base was through novels and sex? Don't even ask! This naiveté has led to boys (and girls) giving her a hard time, making jokes that she never understood, and didn't have a friend to ask, let alone the nerve to ask her grandmother what things meant.

Lily never went to college. She minds her grandmother's accounts, works a few times a week at the schools as a tutor, and shelves books at the library. Lily's safe haven has always been some kind of library: be it in a house, school, or a proper one. Whenever she is upset, she can be found in her favorite corner with a book.

She continues to live with her grandmother and deep down, is afraid she is doomed to the life of an unwed matron with a hundred cats.

Special Skills and Abilities:

Lily likes to sing and even took voice lessons as a young child.

Weaknesses:

Curiosity: Lily is pretty good at keeping her nose out of places where it doesn't belong when it comes to other people's issues, but if something is bothering her and she wants to learn more, she'll search it out. She'll do whatever she can to find it.

Naive: Lily is an intelligent girl. She's book smart and knows a lot of things, but that doesn't exactly help her in her current situation. She's pretty ignorant of how things work and it doesn't help that she's quite trusting and the type of person that could be taken advantage of by anyone who acts nice to her. She's starting to learn but it's a long road ahead.

Repression: Lily's childhood up to age eight is a figurative 'black hole'. For some unknown reason, her memories of the time living with her parents are rather empty except a scant few images of her mother and some of the more violent outbursts of her father. She's been warned not to search any further into the past because it's clear that she's forgetting these things for a reason.

Depression: She thought that getting out of the house would've cured all her issues. That she'd be happier and life would be full of sunshine and daisies. Well, that's not the real world and that hasn't happened. There is no magical cure for the depression. Instead of a controlling grandmother, Lily has to deal with living outside of her tower. It isn't as bad as it used to be and she's generally a happier person, but she finds herself getting disheartened more often and would much prefer to hide under the covers in her room than flee outside to the library

Strengths:

Dependable: Once you're a friend of Lily's, you're a friend for life. Despite her naivite about things, she has a trustworthiness about her and people feel that they can rely on her if they ever need anything. An ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on, money, anything. Lily will drop whatever she's doing to help someone she cares for. She's a fiercely loyal person (sometimes to her own detriment) and a good friend.

On a Roll: Lily did what she was unable to do for so long and she's striking out into the world. She's got a new outlook on herself and on her life. She feels like she's 'worth it' for once and she's holding on tight to the positive changes and she'll do whatever she can to make sure that it stays in her favor. Lily's focused on what she wants and for the first time feels like she can get it.

Family or Connections:

Agatha Pennington - Grandmother (85)

Jesse James - The crush since middle school. Lily's hesitantly sure they're friends and owes him for helping her get the will to set out on her own.

Brett Trent - A staple in her life growing up until a few years ago. He occasionally checked in on her (at the behest of his first partner).

Maya Walker - A friend of Agatha's and now Lily's. Lily has unknowngly indebted herself to Maya, who is responsible for helping Lily break out of her shell.

Jennifer Haas - Lily's best friend. The two met at the public library several years ago and have formed a kind of bond. Lily brings her books when she isn't feeling well and Jenny has allowed Lily to look over some of her writing before sending them off to the Echo. Although close in age, Jenny is more of a little sister than a true equal. They are currently roommates

Evelyn 'Evie' James - Jesse's younger sister. Lily's known Evelyn since she was a girl from the library. She's recently met her once more but it hasn't been off to a good start.

Residence:

Recently moved in with Jennifer Haas in a small, two-bedroom apartment they're currently redecorating.

Career:

Librarian/Part Time Tutor/Potential shop owner

PB: Amber Tamblyn

Other Information:

Lily doesn't remember much of her childhood because it's been repressed. Shortly before her mother left, Lily's father began to sexually abuse Lily. There was no rape involved, but it was traumatic enough that Lily has repressed it. It is because of this that Lily's mother left and Agatha came to take her. Agatha contacted one of her Walker friends to take care of Richard a few weeks later.
