Character Profile

Name: Zhen Jia Zi ("precious" "beautiful" "wisdom")

Age: 27

Gender: female

Type: Aspects - Other

Appearance:

Zhen is delicate looking. Pixieish is what's often used to describe her fine boned, slim figure. She's cute, unassuming, and slightly mischievous looking. She's got dark hair, brown eyes, and mid height at 5'5". Clothing-wise, you never know what you're going to get with her, she wears everything from elegance to what might look like a fabric store threw up on her.

Personality:

Zhen is a bit of a strange girl. She's quite bright, bouncy and happy at times, in fact, most of the time. She has been known to be the ray of sunshine that knocks some people out of their funks. That doesn't mean that she doesn't have anything else going for her, however. Most of the time, she's just fairly happy, and she does seem incredibly difficult to knock out of that frame of mind for very long. She's a bit erratic, and sometimes does things that give people pause, but more often than not, people overlook it because she's interesting to be around enough to get past it.

Zhen's an unpredictable sort of person. When she's happy she's very happy, when she's upset, she's very upset. She's what comes off as a force of nature often times because if Zhen's attention is on something, then it's got her full attention. She doesn't do things half way. People view her as quirky because she kinda just does what she wants, regardless of social norms, or anything else.

Sexuality:

Zhen's someone who looks at a person much more than she looks at a gender, so she wouldn't claim to have any specific sexuality. She's attracted to people, not parts.

Constants:

~* Aspect of Chaos *~
Change: Zhen truly believes that people can't have experienced life in it's fullest until they've gone through the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Therefore, she initiates change. It's one of the key driving forces that dominates her life. She will take situations and she'll throw a wrench in the works, or she'll provide that one key element that'll make something succeed. Whatever it is, it'll have an impact on people somewhere, and she's got no morality when it comes to this drive. Therefore if cutting the break line on someone's car will make them appreciate life more, she'll do it, regardless of the fact that one or several people might die in the process. She doesn't differentiate between a person and a populous either. It's just as important to her to influence events that will have some overarching influence and will effect the lives of many as it is to take time out and change a single person's life. Another part of this is that it has to be something she sees. People have tried and failed in the past to manipulate her into doing things. But to her, it's got to be her call, it's got to be judgment she's passed. She is unable to be manipulated in her actions to alter the course of people's lives.

Erratic: Zhen's life is one of constant change herself. She's not built to have anything really long term or long standing unless it's a project she can't 'finish'. All in all, though, a quiet, steady life isn't in the cards for her whatsoever. She's in constant flux between employment, social groups, housing, etc. Consistency and Zhen aren't mixy things, and never will be. In the past her parents have tried to enforce consistency upon their daughter, but it's always had disastrous results. It's unsustainable for the girl, and if she's forced into routine for too long, it usually has violent and far reaching results.

Unstable Environment: Even though Zhen makes a point of initiating the chaos around her, even if she didn't, events do happen around her that people would deem chaotic. The world seems to go a little awry around her in general. For instance, she worked at the soup kitchen and the woman who ran the place up and disappeared, no one knows where. Events happening around her often complete with unpredictable results, even if she's had no direct influence on them. It means she's more likely to be around when an accident occurs, or someone gets hit with a stray bullet, etc.

City History:

Zhen grew up in a very small village in China, and lived there until she was about ten. After that her family moved, and she saw different parts of china, africa, the world. She was well traveled, and well educated through tutors. She never, however, really managed to go to public school in any country. She always wanted to, but wasn't permitted by her family. Around the age of twenty they arrived and then stayed in Eidolon City.

While when she was young she was told all sorts of stories about what her father did for a living, she eventually figured out it wasn't the truth. Zhen learned about when she was around seven years old, and she 'happened upon' a dead man in the garden. Her family's reaction to it was what taught her. First off, the police never arrived to deal with it. No one seemed overly surprised that there was a dead man hanging about. And, of course, no one deemed it that necessary to do much against her, when she was the one who'd done it in the first place. In fact, people had trouble even suspecting her, though later in life, they drew closer to that conclusion. They just never did anything about it.

Zhen was never really that interested in her father's business, legit or no. It didn't have any impact her one way or the other. Just so long as it didn't start involving kidnappings of her or her mother, she was happy to ignore the entire affair. So, she has. The Jade Lotus all know her, and know better than to mess with her. There are a few members that actually quite like her and will go out of their way to try and help her out, but for the most part, her father's business and her life don't do a whole lot of crossing. She likes it like that, he likes it like that.

She grew up learning everything she could, curiosity one of her main faults. Or, at the very least, odd forms of curiosity. Zhen isn't curious about everything, after all. She didn't have any interest in whatever crime her father might be in, but when something does strike her interest, she'll relentlessy follow after it to find out all about it. Zhen's had jobs, but only when they strike her fancy, as opposed to any true necessity. She never usually stays at them for long, as they lose their shiny and she wanders off to something new. Her father keeps excellent tabs on her, and keeps her very well taken care of, which allows her to continue this lifestyle.

Psychologically, Zhen's a mystery. Instead of going psychotic with her mental break, she seemed to not follow it up with any true violent tendencies that anyone saw, no deep seeded need to fulfill like most psychotics. She baffled psychologists, who couldn't categorize her whatsoever. She's been diagnosed with everything from schizophrenia to extreme manic depressive psychosis. Nothing ever quite fit. She's also been deemed a psychopath, because she detaches herself well from anything that makes her feel badly. Yet others say that it's not true psychopathology, it's a defense mechanism. Either way, no one's been able to diagnose anything that has truly fit her condition, and no medications they've given her have evened her out, or that she'll take for longer than a few weeks before she throws them out.

Since she's been deemed not a danger to herself or others, she is mostly let go to live her life, just under the incessant watch of her father. She passes for normal most of the time, and most people never know about her condition whatsoever.

One psychologist did a case study on her, and he couldn't ever get her condition into the books, because she's unique, but he did find out what she was all about. She's a driving force of chaos, and most things that seem pointless and random that she does she actually sees reason for. She sees patterns, and has a deep seeded belief that people can't truly live until they have experienced the full range of human emotion. Her goal is to stimulate that, be it good or bad. She honestly believes she's helping people in what she does, showing them the truth about life and existence, making them into fuller human beings. She's the devil who thinks she's in the right.

Special Skills and Abilities:

A wide array of rather random things, none of which she practices actively. Most notably is she speaks several different languages fluently.

Weaknesses:

Zhen's never really fallen on hard times. Therefore, she's unprepared for a lot of things life might throw at her. It's a little like she's naive, but it's difficult to say in what ways. She's worldly without the experience in a lot of it to back it up, which leaves her in a very strange position, maturity-wise.

Zhen's whims are what rules her the most, which can frustrate a lot of people, when they're either the focus of them or the discarded refuse of them. She's gotten herself into trouble quite a few times romantically for this very reason. It isn't something she does deliberately, but it does happen. If the tide changes in Zhen's world view, then everything changes with it, and that might not work out so well for people who're in her life at the time.

There is a strange sort of detachment that Zhen's got going on in her mind, a separation from the things that she does not like that borders on clinical. Psychologists have traced it back to her childhood, possibly finding the dead man, and they have a lot to say on the subject--not that Zhen could tell you any of it, since she doesn't seem to care.

Morality is really not something that Zhen seems to have. It's not that she's a huge psycho and evil or even has an overwhelming, all encompassing dark side that most people without morals tend towards. For her, it's much more just part of who she is as a person, the entity that she embodies. Morality isn't part of her make up. And even if she has her own rules on things--those are subject to change at any given moment. So even if she feels strongly about something one day, if she would need to go back on that opinion to initiate change in someone's life, she will in a heartbeat, and won't hesitate or even mourn the loss of a principal later.

Crazypants. Zhen is really really nuts. She's cheerful all the time--but we're talking about a girl who can be cheery just after she's shot someone dead in the next room. Who's perfectly capable of doing horrible things and not for a moment feel bad about it--she feels like she's doing the right thing.

Strengths:

It's nearly impossible to keep her down for long. She can be highly giving when the mood strikes her, and she generally makes friends easily because of her bright if quirky nature.

Zhen's being looked out for. Her father's connections and the like have kept her out of Bedlam and prison. He most certainly works hard to keep her out of trouble and cover for her whenever possible, something that he's pretty damn good at by now.

Family or Connections:

Father and Mother in chinatown. George. The Jade Lotus family. People at the police station and fire department, etc.

Residence:

Zhen has a few different places she 'lives'. One is one of the rooms at the old bank building. One is a small if very nice upscale apartment uptown. She's always got a room at her parent's place.

Career:

whatever she feels like...currently working at the soup kitchen, she volunteers at the fire station, and does filing for the police department. She's been known to volunteer at the theater as well, and has taken a shift or two at Nighthawke's.
