Character Profile
Name: Jenny
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Type: Wakings - Tides
Appearance:
Standing tall at 5'8”, Jenny has shoulder length, straight dark blonde hair and dark hazel eyes. She's slender with gentle curves, though she nearly always wears clothes that do not accent her womanly shape. Her skin is naturally, lightly tanned, showing her Italian roots. Jenny has a pretty face with large, attractive looking freckles spread out sporadically on her face. When she smiles, it's mostly shy.
Personality:
Due to her assault at 15, Jenny stopped aging mentally. She acts very young, somewhere between 13-15. She's very skittish around people, often being unable to take her eyes off of them out of mistrust for them. Around people, she's very quiet, careful not to drawn attention to herself. However, around Jackson or her mother, she's more out-going. She acts childish and jokes around with Jackson, anything to bring a smile to her brother's face. Unfortunately, she is unable to connect with him on an adult level, or unable to reconcile why he works such a dangerous job. Also, because she finds herself unable to preform many adult-level things, she's easily frustrated, often angry at herself. She's sensitive to outside influences as well. Typically, if someone is happy (or sad/angry/whatever) around her, she is, too.
Sexuality:
Asexual.
City History:
Born Jennifer May Haas, to Rosette, an Italian-American woman, and Florian Haas, a Norwegian diplomat, on January 19th. She has two older brothers, one five years older – Paul – and one two years older – Jackson. Even as a child, she was especially close to Jackson, often following him around like a lost puppy. She was raised Christian.
Despite her father's drinking and abusive habits towards her mother, Jenny was never witness to such events and loved both of her parents in equal measure and was loved in return. However, when she was fifteen, her brother Paul had gotten involved in the criminal underworld. He managed to anger some people, who sent three men to attack her to send a message to her brother. She was gang raped and beaten repeatedly and left for dead before a local cop found her and saved her life.
With the trauma in fresh in her mind and her family falling apart, Jenny became utterly reclusive, escaping from reality via books and other methods of isolation. Even after she healed up physically, she ended up in and out of hospitals for various reasons, mostly because she caught an illness due to a weakened immune system.
A few years after her attack, her father died of liver failure and her mother became a little distant. Her younger older brother joined the police force and she has not spoken to Paul in years. She now lives on her own with Jackson over near daily to check in on her. She works for the Echo writing short-stories and writes fantasy novels whenever she has time (which is nearly always).
World History:
Jennifer was a dance teacher for a local neighborhood, teaching children and teenagers various dances. She had no family to speak of and was in an unhappy marriage before her coma. More often than not, she spent her time among the children she taught.
Special Skills and Abilities:
Due to having “coped” with her rape by isolating herself with several books, Jenny is a very literate woman with a mostly clear memory of things she's read.
Weaknesses:
Panic Disorder – Sometimes, memories and feelings she's tried desperately to bury come to the forefront. No matter what precautions she takes, no matter how much therapy she does, she tends to go into severe panic attacks, causing her to become violently ill. Sometimes they're so bad she has to be sedated.
Social Anxiety Disorder – She's a recluse. Being around people frighten her. Period. However, she is recently trying to venture out into the world – trying to remove some of her burden off of her brother's shoulders. Mostly unsuccessfully. One step forwards, two steps backwards.
Untrusting – Simply put, Jenny has an incredibly hard time trusting others. In her life, the only two people she truly trusts are her brother and her mother. Though she may be quiet in her distrust, she believes almost (if not everyone) has a hidden agenda.
Diseased – Jenny is often in and out of hospitals for various reasons. She doesn't eat right and this leads to a weakened immune system. She gets sick very easily and is generally unwell most of the time.
Strengths:
Imagination – Though the origin of this strength is morbid, Jenny has a very detailed imagination. She can weave graphic, beautiful stories either by text or by her own words. She uses this strength to help support herself by sending in stories to the Echo under an alias.
Loyalty - If for some reason Jenny decides she can trust you, you will have her loyalty indefinitely, unless you can be proven to be untrustworthy, though her trust is extremely hard to come by.
Family or Connections:
Her connections include the people at the Echo who publish her stories. She's friendly with the children near her apartment, occasionally the doctors and nurses who treat her at the hospital as well. As for family she has Paul Haas (eldest brother who she refuses to speak of, responsible for her assault), Jackson Haas (younger-older brother, whom she is very close to), and Rosette Haas (mother).
Residence:
She lives with her room mate Lilly in a small, two-bedroom apartment. Her living room is very clean, almost unused. Her bedroom is decorated in posters of actors and movies. She has a large book-shelf filled with dozens of young-adult books a teenager would be interested in.
Career:
Reclusive, small-time author – specifically, young adult fantasy author.
PB: Adrianne Palicki
Other Information:
Jenny is trying to be independent, forcing herself to leave her apartment, to do things a person her age should be doing (save sleeping around because no, just no.) She, on occasion, parties with people in her apartment complex, without Jackson's knowledge. Also, she has a tattoo on her wrist she got when she was twenty-five. Jackson freaked out.
