Character Profile

Name: December Marie Trent

Age: 23

Gender: female

Type: Aspect

Appearance:

December scares a lot of people(even if she is a tiny little thing, at 5'1" tops). She's got jet black hair, and piercing eyes somewhere between green and blue depending on what she's wearing, she's pale as death most of the time, she's got tattoos and piercings. Yes, bits of metal shoved through her skin. In fact several rings range up and down her back, with ribbon laced through like a corset. It's distracting. It's weird. She's been called a freak more than once and it's a title she doesn't mind keeping. In fact, for a while, she appeared in a freak show, as 'the impaled woman'. Either way, she is not the girl next door, and there are a lot of people who will cross the street rather than cross her path, just by how she looks.

If one gets past the totally out there things, she's a cute girl. She's got a roundish face, an almost doll like look to her at times. If she didn't dress like she walked out of another century while on her way to a funeral all the time, she'd probably be considered quite pretty, and even alluring. Every once in a great while she goes 'normal', and when she does, it's a transformation that means some people have trouble recognizing her. Others? Certain kinds of others? They would know her anywhere.

Personality:

No one is going to tell December how to be, how to live or what to do. She's a fiercely independent and willful girl, not keen on people trying to bend them to their ideas of normality. She's strong minded and speaks that mind, often to the point of being abrasive--but then again, most people in the world she makes a point to piss off. Anyone who looks at her like she's a freak (which she's aware she is and strives to be) could very well get an earful.

She's loud, opinionated, and gets defiant when people try to tell her what to do. She can be vindictive if she feels like it--though that goes all with her whims, and how she feels at the time. It isn't a sure thing she'll decide to take action against someone, it's like russian roulette.

It's not all bad, though. While a difficult person to get to know (or put up with), December, once she does decide to let someone in, can be warm and supportive. If someone manages to get past her defenses, then she'll be unflinchingly loyal and she'll hang on to them with everything she's got. Most people just tend to give up getting to know her after the first bitchy tirade. She's got a sense of humor, and while it's mainly sarcastic in nature, she isn't entirely humorless.

She also, at the end of the day, is incredibly protective. If someone matters to her, hell's got nothing on December's wrath if anything happens to them.

Sexuality:

bisexual

Constants:

~Lilith~

Dominant - even if something is in her best interest, if it runs along with the status quo, she can't fall in line like a good little girl. It doesn't matter how much hell she catches for going against that norm, she'll do it anyways, fuck the consequences. This impacts every area of her life, from her physical appearance to the way she talks. She doesn't have it in her to be submissive. She doesn't agree with the way women are treated in particular (believing men and women to be equals at least), which has lent itself quite a bit to her profession.

The Dark Side - Anyone who actually holds her attention has to have some element of a dark side to them, some black streak to their personality that she's fascinated with. This fascination extends as well to the dead and dying, something she's quite interested in even if she doesn't understand why. It very much shaped her life and current career, and it's why being a coroner is actually working out for her pretty well despite her abrasive personality--she's good at her job. She's good at looking at the dead and figuring out what happened to them. In her mind, the dead 'speak' to her, in their own way. They aren't silent until she says they are.

Led Astray - There's something about December that lures in some men (and every single one of them are pretty damaged in some way). Something about her that they're drawn in by, most of them couldn't even say what it is. Possibly the forbidden, or the promise of something that's anything but boring. It's actually what keeps her in business a lot of the time, said men coming to her for specific sorts of things--a trip to the darker side of sensuality. It's happened before that some of these men have cracked, and there's one who's locked up at Bedlam. She doesn't set out to do that, she isn't cruel, but she's seen it happen more than once. Sometimes a man will fixate, and there's little she can do about it. Sometimes, it gets a little intense, and they won't go away.

City History:

December, as many would assume by her appearance, didn't have the most fabulous time growing up. Her family had a tendency to die. Her aunt and uncle died well before she was born. Her cousin Brett lived with their aunt Claire, who also kicked off when she was still really little. Brett she saw a lot when she was young, but something happened when she was around six (she remembers trauma of some kind, a fire, she thinks, no one ever really told her all that much of anything since she was so young) and after that she never saw him. Her own parents were people who got into some bad things, and proceeded to drown in it. She still doesn't know what happened to her father, who just kind of wandered off at some point. Her mother died when she was young yet, only eleven, and it was only later that she understood she'd died of a drug overdose. She found her. After her mom's death, no one was quite sure what to do with December. She doesn't know this, but her cousin was approached to take her and refused. She was brought to the orphanage for a while, though she was a quiet girl who the nuns didn't exactly take to all that well. After all, she definitely didn't follow the rules.

She eventually left, however. Part of it was due to an incident that's fuzzy in December's memory. It's really hazy, she doesn't fully remember anything but a vague sense of total sick feeling dread comes up whenever she passes a church. It was the start of when she became more volatile and standoffish.

Seeing an opportunity, she left the orphanage after only a couple months when a carnival was coming through town, and immediately made herself useful to them. Since it was clear she had no parents or anything to look after her, they took her in, and she traveled around with them for years. It was there that her life experiences were formed much more solidly, and she seemed to come into her own in that time. She learned much more who she really was, and she wasn't treated like she was wrong like she had been in her life up until then. It was the first time December ever really remembered being happy. She worked making costumes for people and as she collected body modifications, she occasionally appeared in the freak shows. It was during this time that she learned how to give tattoos as well, something she supplemented her income with.

Unfortunately, with the war on, and money being tighter and tighter all around the country, the carnival eventually had to disband. She tried for a while to find a new one to run with, but failed to do so. Eventually, she had to find someplace to land on her feet and start over, and so she returned to Eidolon City when she was seventeen. It was the only place she ever really knew, and therefore it was as good a place as any.

At first, things didn't exactly go smoothly. She eventually found herself in a position where she might have to start hooking. Obviously not something she wanted to do, she did almost get into a situation--only she turned it around and things went a little sideways. Lucky for her, they went sideways in a fashion that worked out for her, introducing her to the world she fit into incredibly well. It wasn't long before she was called a 'dominatrix', and she had people asking for her 'services'. And none of it involved the sorts of things hookers had to do. She's slowly over the years taken on an extremely exclusive, small list of 'clients'.

She gravitated towards the Boardwalk because it suited her life and reminded her of her time with the carnival. She opened a small tattooist shop there, and tried to see if she could make a full living out of it--but it turned out that she couldn't, not really. She made decent money, sure, but not enough. Eventually she started looking for other work, and she wanted to do something that appealed to her. After a friend who'd been working at the boardwalk with her was brutally knifed and she found the body, she accompanied her friend to the morgue to positively and identify her. That was where she found what she'd been looking for, and she aspired to become a Coroner.

She's been working at that for a few years now, and she's finally gotten her license. She works the graveyard shift and is on call sometimes for any police matters that require her expertise--she likes talking morbid scenarios with the cops who bring in corpses, and she likes to piece together what happened to the departed souls that wind up on her table. She's highly into the field of criminalistics, trying to help the cops figure out what happened. Though really her interest is in just what happened and how to discern that, she doesn't so much give a damn about justice being served.

Special Skills and Abilities:

coroner(focus on criminalistics), piercing and tattooing, sewing

Weaknesses:

Masochist - December likes pain. It's just one of those things. She doesn't know why it started, she doesn't know when it started, but it's very much there in her personality. It's something she's learned not to deny, but at the same time, generally she can't find anyone who can fulfill her in that department. Particularly with her profession. One thing she engages in is temporary piercings. She's got a lot of permanent ones, but to 'release pressure' sometimes, she'll get some elaborate piercings that aren't in any way sustainable, that she takes out after a day or so. It's becoming something of an addiction for her--the main reason she keeps the corset piercings. Pulling on the ribbons helps for her.

Freak - December when left to her own devices? Does not blend. She's a girl who deliberately makes herself stand out and really not in anything even close to a socially acceptable manner. In fact she wears it like a badge of honor, really. It means that a hell of a lot of places around town won't even let her in the door, and she gets shunned in a lot of public areas. There are always whispers following her around and blatantly disgusted looks.

Curiosity - December really doesn't know when to stop poking her nose into things. She likes to play detective with the corpses she works on, wanting to work out what happened to them before they got to her. Sometimes she'll even poke into their pasts if she has enough information to, even if that's not the smartest of ideas for her. But she's definitely done it before, for the bodies that come in that have the weirdest 'stories' to tell.

Abrasive - Having the personality that automatically sets people at 'intolerable unless you prove yourself' isn't a great thing. Especially with the fact that she's a social pariah, she isn't winning people over and making shiny friends all that often. So even if her appearance isn't enough to run people off, half the time spending five minutes with her will.

Distrustful - Having grown up the way she did, and having spent some time traveling around, December doesn't trust easily. It's something that definitely needs to be earned with her, and that's hard to do sometimes. She can't get over that, though, something that was reinforced while she traveled. Carnies and Freaks really weren't big on the outside world, and even if she doesn't have that group to be a part of anymore, that opinion hasn't faded. She's always waiting for someone to want something out of her, and it takes a long time to get past that.

Misplaced - One thing that December would have trouble ever admitting is that she wants to be a part of something. She was when she traveled with the carnival and all, but that's over now. She for a while was part of an entire counter culture that stuck together, and she misses it desperately. But with her personality, and the fact that she absolutely can't fall in line and behave like a normal person, finding a new place to belong is really going to be a rough pursuit.

Temper - December can be pretty easy to piss off at times. And when she's pissed, she most certainly lets you know. Loudly. In great, foul languaged detail.

Standoffish - Another thing people would be very surprised to find out about December is she isn't big on being touched. At least, not in a casual, or intimate manner. Tattoos and piercings(the ones she isn't doing herself) are fine, but that's professional. She doesn't know why it is(it stems from when she was at the orphanage, where she's blocked some memories), really, but one of the only things that will bring about a vulnerable reaction from her is to get too close and get too grabby. She only gets physically close to people she feels emotionally close to, which at current is a grand total of no one. Personal space is a big thing with her, and she can lash out if she feels it's being too threatened.

Aversion to Churches - Churches make December uncomfortable. If she never has to set foot in one again, she never will. They honestly creep her out in a way that she can't quite explain, but either way she avoids them like the plague. Her religious views are very much not christian, not that she's pinned down anything specific either way.

Strengths:

High Pain Tolerance - Considering she likes it as much as she does, and with the body modifications she has going on, December can take a lot before she's downed by pain.
Sharp Cookie - She's a fast learner and observant.

Family or Connections:

cousin: Brett Trent

Residence:

December's Ink on the Boardwalk

Career:

Graveyard shift city coroner. Occasionally called in for special circumstances. Has a small tattoo parlor(December's Ink) on the Boardwalk that she lives above (and is only open when she feels like it), she has a few very exclusive clients for her dominatrix skills.

PB: Amelia Dolore

Other Information:

Has some high profile clients in both the DiGiovanni mob family and the Konnovich Syndicate. She tries to keep both as quiet as possible.

Despite the fact that most people would see her as a complete whore, December is actually a virgin. Her 'services' as a dominatrix do not include sex.

December has a reputation at the ECPD, and a lot of times it's the rookie cops that get sent in to deal with her. It's almost like a rite of passage these days, something everyone's got to go deal with at some point, she's the crash course. She also is a little chattier with the cops that come in on her shift or she gets called in for, because she's interested in solving the mystery--just not for the same reasons as them.
