Appearance:

Alexi’s got good looks that come from his family but he’s never been very good at doing much with them. His hair’s never quite the right length, usually a little too long from lack of caring, and he’s horrid at remembering to shave. His clothes, while decent quality aren’t very well cared for, nor are they properly matched together. He tends to have a look that’s well below his station and he looks as if he fits in better at the gym or out on the streets than he would at a fancy party. If necessary though, he can make the effort and blend just as well as the rest of his family.

He wishes he was taller but makes the most of the fact that he doesn’t clear six feet tall. Years of boxing and general mischief have left him with an athletic frame, stronger than his size gives away.

Personality:

Alexi is a rough and tumble kind of guy, the type that throws friendly punches as a form of communication. He’s usually in a good mood, smiles quite a bit even when it might not be appropriate (say, while he’s watching some of the goons for the family beat the crap out of someone). He’s always up for something and the first one to take a dare.

He’s always been full of way too much energy, not the type to sit still well. He does his best thinking while punching a bag or jumping into a ring with someone twice his size. And he will do just that, jump into a ring with someone twice his size. He’s fearless, a result of being quick on his feet and having little that he can’t pick up quickly.

Not the sharpest tool in the shed, he’s in no way a leader unless he’s coaching someone at the gym. Even then though, he’s better at showing by exampled. He’s never going to be the big decision maker on much, but he is the guy that will get things done once he’s given a direction.

THE ARTFUL DODGER
Kleptomaniac - Alexi has a terrible case of sticky fingers. He tends to “collect” things from people all the time and constantly walks off with things that aren’t his. He’s not a great thief, and he’s gotten in trouble for it more than once, nothing the family can’t get him out of though. Whenever there’s a job to be done, he always has some sort of trophy from the job, no matter how insignificant seeming.

Avoids responsibility for his actions - Whether from being able to talk his way out of things or from just getting a pass because of the family, Alexi rarely claims responsibility for whatever result his actions might have. If what he said hurt your feelings? You shouldn’t be so sensitive. If something he did messed things up? Well he doesn’t make decisions, just carries out orders, someone else should have thought that through.

Goes against the status quo - While Alexi has enough clout with the family to be a lieutenant in training, a well dressed, well placed and more, he avoids it as much as he can. He’d rather be the somewhat dirty, not put together mutt that runs the gym and helps train all the up and coming goons. And when that doesn’t seem to bother everyone enough he’ll get dressed up and show up at some family event just to watch people cringe.

City History:

Son of a captain in the Cusick family, the expectations for Alexi were never high, but they weren’t low either. His father was a brute of a man, though Alexi, in size and looks, favored his mother. He was a loved child nonetheless, especially when it was apparent he’d inherited his father’s temperament.

Boxing was something he picked up from his father, starting from a young age, holding the spit bucket and passing off towels to fighters while they trained and fought. Once he was a teenager he was training himself showing to be a bit on the scrappy side. He wasn’t big enough to be a contender, but always a good scrub for the bigger guys to practice against in the ring. At matches, while he wasn’t allowed to compete, he was tough enough to hold and dish out the money for the betting going on in the crowds. No good with numbers he wasn’t doing the math, but the one who actually paid everyone what they were owed.

When his father got hit in the head too many times, it fell to Alexei to fill the man’s shoes in the family. It was evident though that Alexi didn’t have the head for decision making that his father had and after a while it was decided that his background in boxing and his fearless nature made him gave him the perfect nature to be a trainer and part time recruiter when he wasn’t being pulled into odd jobs. The Campbell’s Gym had always been there, but once Alexi took charge of it at twenty-two it became something else entirely. Where before it had been just a place for the occasional shady deal and somewhere to let out aggression, it quick became a machine for training, and finding new goons to back up anything the Syndicate needed.

Alexi has a few guys he always works with on jobs, five or six hand picked that have trained through the gym, half under his tutelage, half under one of the older guys who he has helping out. His father is there too, but his head injury leaves him a little slower and not always with the picture. He’s a legend though, which means everyone gives the old fighter a wide berth and no one fault Alexi for helping the guy out.

Special Skills and Abilities:

Very good at anything involving his hands, quick to pick up a new skill. Quite the jack of all trades when necessary. Good boxer with a high pain tolerance.

Weaknesses:

Fearless - Alexi’s sense of mortality is completely warped. No matter what situation he’s facing there’s little that scares him. That basement that he shouldn’t walk into? He’s busting down the door with a broad grin, not even thinking twice about it. It’s not just to dangerous situations, but in most settings. Despite his size, he’s the kind to take on someone twice his size without stopping for an instant to consider that it might be bad idea.

Daredevil - No need to double dog dare, Alexi to do something. All he usually needs is a playful suggestion and he’s climbing up to a roof to jump off. While it usually doesn’t take much to get him to do something, suggesting he can’t is a sure fire way to make sure he does it.

Addled Father - While Alexi isn’t the best with responsibility, there are two things he does manage to take care of well enough, the gym and his father. But his father is becoming a burden, able to do less and less for himself and less and less of the man he used to be, the prize fighter who was quick on his feet and as sharp as a tack. Now he tends to wander off, get in the way and upset people around the gym. It’s becoming harder and harder to keep his dad from getting into things and getting hurt and the worse he becomes the more sensitive about it Alexei gets.

Attention Deficit Disorder - Alexi has a really bad case of ‘oh shiny’. He’s constantly distracted, constantly dodging off in a different direction, looking at something else or leaving one task to go to another.

Dyslexic - Numbers and Alexei are not friends. He’s constantly getting them backwards and mixed up, which serves to frustrate the hell out of him. Math will never be his strong suit and he sadly has to find someone else to help out with the books for the gym. Thankfully there’s usually someone around.

Restless - Alexi doesn’t sit still. He’s not the guy you take on a stake out if it’s going to last longer than three minutes. Normally he’s bouncing about, always on his feet, moving, pacing, or twitching. It’s good in the ring, but sometimes in normal conversation it can be distracting.

Strengths:

Tougher than he looks - Alexi might be smaller in stature but that hasn't stopped him. He's able to hold his own in quite a few fights, and if he winds up losing he always makes sure he does some significant damage before falling. He's got a high pain tolerance to go with it, able to wince his way through most and withstand for longer than most.
