Character Profile
Name: Steven Fisher
Age: 46
Gender: male
Type: Select One
Appearance:
Tall and slender, Steven is nevertheless strongly built - he just looks like he hasn't got an ounce of fat on him. His dark hair is always kept slicked back off his face, but that only serves to emphasise his good jawline and piercing eyes. He's a man who is ageing well, and is if anything apparently getting better looking with age.
Personality:
Steven is a very easy going guy - one of those types who is very much of the 'anything for an easy life' philosophy. More often than not, he will just go along with what other people want - but the flip side of this is that when Steven puts his foot down about something? That's it and he won't budge on it. Most things he'll let slide, but when he's decided something's important to him, nothing will move him.
Sometimes it appears that he's so laid back, he's almost horizontal, but he sees more than he lets on - he's just not the kind of guy who gets wound up over things unnecessarily. He's a very forgiving guy, though he probably puts up with more shit than he deserves. He's somewhat lacking in backbone at times, that's for sure - too willing to take blame where things aren't his fault, just for an easy life.
Steven has, however, got a romantic streak a mile wide. It might not actually show itself all that often, but he's definitely not above romantic gestures, and when he makes then, he really goes to town.
Sexuality:
heterosexual
City History:
Steven grew up as the younger of two children and had an unremarkable upbringing. His sister was the ambitious one of the family, training as a beautician and starting her own salon as soon as she possibly could. She made a success of it as well. Steven was always, well... Suffice to say, he was lacking in any real ambition in life. He landed a job working at Nighthawk's bussing tables straight out of school and he's still there to this day - although now he's progressed to night manager of the place. That particular promotion path, though, was more luck and being there the longest than really trying for it.
He met his wife, Valerie, just weeks after she started work as his sister's receptionist and Steven would say that he knew from their first conversation that this was the woman he was going to spend the rest of his life with. He proposed to her within sixth months of their meeting and they were married before the year was out.
Steven's only real (and not often expressed) ambition in life was to have a family and though he at first had to convince his wife about having kids, they did just that and two sons and a daughter followed. Life hasn't always been smooth sailing for the couple. Money has always been tight - especially with Valerie's tendency to spend on the most unnecessary things - and his wife hasn't turned out to be the easiest of people to life with. Furthermore, Steven has been borrowing increasing amounts of money from the mob recently to cover the family's expenditure - money he doesn't really have any way of paying back.
Special Skills and Abilities:
Steven provides a good listening ear at times, and knows how to keep a secret.
Weaknesses:
Anything for an easy life - unless something is really, really important to him, Steven will just go with the flow on it all. He'd rather give in an go with something than fight about it and oftentimes he lets other people walk all over him because of it. Steven is a guy who really does always pick the path of least resistance.
Money stresses - Steven doesn't earn a huge amount working at Nighthawk's, even though he works long hours and pulls overtime when he can. His wife's income supplements the family, but she is the driving force of them living beyond their means. the kids have grown up now, but they still come asking for 'loans' every ow and then, which Steven knows that they will never pay back - but it's too hard to say no. He knows that the family is in dire financial straits, though he hasn't told any of them this. He's taken to borrowing money off of mob-connected loan sharks recently, and one day those loans will come due.
Hopeless romantic - Whilst it would be wrong to call Steven 'naive', he does tend to take a idealised view of the world, at times. He has a belief that everything will turn out okay in the end, especially when it's something to do with his love life and family life. He'll make poor choices and put up with a variety of things he probably shouldn't based on this belief that love is all you need and it will conquer all.
Family orientated - Steven biggest weakness is his family. He would move heaven and earth and walk through fire for them. He just doesn't always have the skills and abilities to give them all what he thinks they deserve - plus, they know that husband and father Steven is an easy sell, and all of them have taken advantage of him at one time or another over the years.
Strengths:
Even tempered - it's very hard to get a rise out of Steven, often he's so laid back he's horizontal and anyone looking for a fight isn't going to find it in him. he also has a knack for talking people down from an argument as well, before it gets physical.
Family or Connections:
Wife: Valerie Fisher; their children: Cassandra (27), Roberta (25), Frederick (21)
Residence:
Valerie and Steven live in a small, three bedroom townhouse in midtown. It's not as mice a location as Valerie would have liked, but they had to trade location for a house big enough to suit the entire family. And now the children have left home, Valerie's too attached to the house to move.
Career:
Night manager, Nighthawk's Diner
PB: open
