Character Profile

Name: Eily Mary Elizabeth O’Malley

Age: 23

Gender: female

Type: Aspect

Appearance:

With light blonde, wavy hair and big blue eyes, Eily’s a pretty girl. She’s very pale, with a bit of a glow about her that tends to draw attention. She likes to wear clothes that look good on her, regardless of whether they’re fancy or casual. Nothing baggy, nothing in too poor repair.

She’s often smiling, or looking carefree, even if she isn’t feeling that way. It’s a cultivated sort of persona she wants to give the impression of, and she’s quite adept at it. On the flipside, she’s a girl who when she’s angry? You know without her ever speaking a word. The girl has a death glare of legend. Her emotions are easily conveyed with facial expressions in general.

Personality:

On the surface, Eily comes off as warm, bubbly when she wants to be, easy with a smile, and classy. She can be a little snooty at times, though recently she’s not been able to afford to be nearly as snooty as previously. Some of it was feigned, just so she could fit in with the crowd she wanted to be a part of, but some of it is real. There’s a mixture of her persona and real reactions going on with her, things that alter depending on her situation. She’s adaptable, that’s for certain. She’s difficult to truly trip up, the only weak trigger for her is if her temper gets trod on.

Eily is a girl who has very strong ideas about things. So strong, in fact, that she’s got her own personal set of Rules. She’s got it in her head that things are meant to be a certain way, and if people aren’t adhering to that, she’s an unhappy little bunny. That said, she very much adheres to her own personal code of conduct, she won’t violate it for any reason. A lot of it has to do with how she thinks the world ought to work, not necessarily how it does. So there are often conflicts she must deal with, when people fall out of line. For instance, she views the police in the clear for their involvement in arresting members of her family and the like because they were just doing their job. She doesn’t harbor resentment towards them. But the Syndicate, on the other hand, them she holds personally responsible. They were meant to be in this together, they were meant to watch her family’s back, and they not only didn’t do that, but the swooped in like buzzards to pick at the bones of her family’s assets. That’s absolutely unforgivable in her eyes, and is a driving motivator in her life. She wants revenge for that particular fuckup on their part. They don’t get to get away with it like it was nothing.

What this does is creates an odd relationship with people. She’s often willing to give people the benefit of the doubt, but by the same token if people step wrong, she’s highly unforgiving. The only people she truly lets slide is family, and even then she’s got a long memory.

Constants:

~Scarlett O’Hara~
My Way - Eily doesn’t conform to the rules society has put down in front of her. She makes her own damn rules, and follows them strictly, but they don’t match up with society’s rules all the time, and she’s got no intention of falling in line just because she’s supposed to. She doesn’t really hold with the current ideas of how women are meant to behave, and while she can play the game when she has to, she’s stronger and more cunning than given credit for. She’s also got no fear of doing things her own way, no fear of needing to back down when she’s going after what she wants. If it breaks the world’s rules, the world will have to deal.

Tomorrow Is Another Day - There’s an undying sort of optimism that she holds onto, even if it manifests itself in not overwhelming cheer but by way of determination. She won’t give up, even if her tasks seem hopeless, she won’t break down in despair even if she’s hobbled by events around her. There’s some underlying well of strength of character that makes Eily a girl who’s never going to say die, regardless of her circumstances. It gives her the confidence to ensure she’ll keep going and that she’ll succeed one day. That nothing’ll ever hold her down for long.

Ruthless - The dangerous thing about her is that if something gets into her head, if she wants something or something’s offended her, she can be absolutely ruthless with her pursuit of what she wants. If it means she’s got to do some things other people would consider deplorable, so be it. The only thing she won’t do is violate her own rules--but there are always ways around things. She’ll find one. She can get scarily single minded about things when she wants to and can be as unstoppable as a runaway train and just as subtle.

City History:

Life for Eily was easy, at one point. Her family wasn’t exactly above the board, sure, but she didn’t have moral hangups over it--something instilled in her by her parents. It isn’t necessarily that she’s devoid of morals, it’s just hers are a little bent in some ways. Mostly, however, she was kept out of the loop with the family business. There were a lot of meetings held at the house, and she listened in far more than she appeared to, but she never really knew the full scope of everything.

Her brothers and cousins were all more involved in things than she was, and she was quite a late child--therefore she was the baby of the family, and catered to quite a bit. Or, she was by the adults, anyways, she was still a girl who grew up with a whole lot of brothers, and so she learned from an early age how to throw a proper punch(and she knows how to fight extremely dirty and does so). She grew a thick skin pretty quickly and learned now to talk back when she believed in something. Shouting isn’t something she’ll hold back on if she feels she’s got a point to make. Those traits are still very prominent in her today, even if she wishes she were more refined than that.

What she is is likely the most refined member of the O’Malley family(certainly in light of recent events). Because she was brought up in a slightly different environment than the rest of her family, she’s a little less rough and tumble than everyone else. And that was encouraged in some ways, and in others she strove for it herself. She looks at the DiGiovanni clan and views them as very high class, something she would like for herself. She’s spent a lot of her time in life reaching for that, wanting to be the high society girl, which included working the party circuit. She did that initially by being on the arm of family approved Syndicate types, though eventually she got invites on her own. She’s a likeable girl, after all, she can get her foot in the door if she tries hard enough and bats her eyelashes at the right moment.

She was sort of happily doing all of that when everything quite abruptly went to hell, and with no warning whatsoever. When things went sideways they went so fast Eily honestly didn’t quite know what had happened. Just one day everything was fine, and the next, she had four cousins and a brother to bury. The day after that, more of them were gone. Her family dropped like flies around her, and that entire span of time is a blur for her. Her parents were among those slaughtered, and at this point, she doesn’t know which siblings or cousins managed to lie low and keep their head down long enough that the culling was over. The only one she knows about is Patrick, even if she keeps hoping she’ll walk down the street and see kin.

Currently, she’s trying to put her life back together, and figure out what that life is really going to entail. That, and she wants to ensure the Syndicate feels as much pain as she’s had to suffer through, even if she’s doing it in ways they won’t see coming. At least--not yet.

Special Skills and Abilities:

She can sing, with what people would consider a ‘smoky’ voice. she knows how to fight dirty. she can pick a lock.

Weaknesses:

Grieving - Her family, both immediate and extended has been more or less wiped out. It wasn’t all that long ago, and and she’s still not entirely over it--and likely won’t be for some time. She still misses everyone, and has little keepsakes in her room that remind her of her family members, and photographs everywhere. Nothing will ever replace them, however, and there’s an empty place in her heart that hasn’t healed. She went from having a huge family several families wide to almost no one.

Patrick - Her family’s been decimated, and that’s a big deal, of course, but then there’s Patrick, one of the only surviving members of it(that she’s solidly aware of). And she’s stuck with him. It’s a combination of a few things, really, that make life more difficult with him around. One is that he’s protective--but in a hugely overprotective, paranoid, over the top sort of way. When she was younger it was nice because she liked feeling safe, but these days it’s like he still thinks she’s ten and every male who speaks to her is a threat. It’s suffocating, and means having a social life either has to be done very carefully, or she needs to have one where Patrick isn’t going to see it.

The second part of badness involving her big bro is that he isn’t now and never has been all that bright. She’s a thousand times sharper than he is, and that means she’s the one who’s stuck sort of taking care of him, financially, domestically, etc, not the other way around. Add on top of that the fact that Patrick is wildly irresponsible, constantly in trouble and pissed off twenty four hours a day, and that makes for a pretty stressful homelife in general, and getting ahead is going to be difficult at best. But he’s family. And that means she’s sticking with him. It’s part of her Code, and she adheres to that--even if sometimes she’d like to chuck him head first out a window.

Ill Fit - She’s wanted to be high society for as long as she can remember, but she never quite fit in there. Even if she could get the look down, and the tone, and could get herself invited to parties and the like, there’s something fundamentally missing from the way They view the world and the way she does. And it means, essentially, that she’s never going to quite fit in in that world, no matter how hard she tries. There’ll always be moments where she laughs in the right place because she knows it’s the right place--but she doesn’t think it’s funny.

Driven - To keep herself going, to not crumble entirely and head into depression, Eily’s channeling all of her energy into getting herself back on her feet, with a single minded goal of screwing over the Syndicate any way she can. It does mean her life’s effectively on hold, til she can feel her family’s been avenged. It means she can’t go back to what she used to be doing, even if she wants to. Things have changed, and she’d never been a person who should be crossed and she’s been crossed in the worst way possible. Even if she has other things she wants to do with her life or concentrate on, somewhere in the back of her mind she’s always going to be focusing on that more. It could get her into very dangerous situations, as well, and she’s more than aware of that. It just won’t stop her.

Temper - Maybe it’s the Irish in her, but Eily’s got a temper on her. It’s not as pronounced as her brothers, and doesn’t come out in the same ways, but it’s definitely there, and once it’s triggered, she can be a whole lot to handle.

Grudges - Eily can hold a grudge to the grave. Forgiveness with her is extremely hard won, if possible at all.

Strengths:

Underestimated - People generally think she’s just a pretty face. And she can play the part really well, when she wants to. She can play dumb, and shallow, and like she doesn’t have a thought in her head. But she isn’t like that at all, and the fact of the matter is, no one’ll ever see Eily coming.

Adaptable - She knows higher society etiquette as well as the dregs of society’s rules. She’s been to both places, and can actually pretty fluidly go between the two if she needs to.
