Character Profile
Name: Moira O'Malley
Age: 31
Gender: Female
Type: Aspect
Appearance:
Moira would stand about 5’2”, if she could stand, but she can’t. She has red hair and dark green eyes that are offset by her pale Irish skin. She has a sweet face and smile that belies her inner evil. Her upper body is, while not overly muscled like a body builder, is suitably solid and muscular. Her lower body, on the other hand, is thin and wasted, especially her legs, which are also twisted and a bit short for the rest of her body. She uses a top-of-the-line wheelchair to get around, very shiny but still clunky. She always dresses very well, befitting a woman of her station, and loves jewelry like rings and necklaces. Her legs are almost always covered by a black and green plaid blanket, under which she always has at least one gun, usually more.
Personality:
Moira is the definition of “Queen Bitch”, complete with throne. She makes no pretenses of “equality” with those lower than her, although she will attempt to make nice with those she views as equal stature. She is still very bitter about the fact that she’s disabled, even after 25 years and that bitterness practically seeps from her. She’s very driven to succeed and will do whatever it takes to get ahead. She’s a very sarcastic woman, as well, and is not afraid to unleash her acid tongue on others.
Sexuality:
Lesbian, but not “officially” out of the closet. People know, but are smart enough to not say anything.
Constants:
(The Evil Queen)
Moira is obsessed with showing everyone that she’s just as good as anyone else despite her handicap. Her rise to power has bordered on an insane obsession, and she knows she’s just one or two steps away from being on top of the family, if not the whole Syndicate.
She has a very loose sense of morals- while nominally Catholic, like all good little Irish folk, she doesn’t feel bound to any of their silly little rules or commandments. Besides, if there really was a god to fear, why would he have made her a cripple?
Moira is ruthless in her dealings, both in and out of the family. While she always shows the proper respect to her higher ups, she shows no mercy in her dealings with those lower than her. She rules her branch of the family through fear. She has no qualms about killing or ordering the death of a hired hand that has failed her once too often.
City History:
Moira was born into the O’Malley family, one of many first generation Americans born into the family and for the first six years was a normal, healthy, happy child. When she was six, however, everything changed. She simply woke up one morning feeling positively horrible, and by the time she could be gotten to a hospital, the paralysis had spread through her body. Her family was devastated when they received the horrible news: Polio. While Moira eventually recovered the use of her arms, her legs and hips would remain paralyzed.
Her parents, just happy to still have their little girl back from the jaws of death, doted on the girl, making sure that she wanted for nothing. And boy, did she want! She was always in competition with her brothers, wanting to do everything they did despite her condition: if they played cowboys and Indians, she didn’t want to be the woman at home waiting, she wanted to be a cowboy. If they went out shooting tin cans, she was right there with them. Anything to make people forget that she was and would always be a “cripple.”
This determination served her well as she got older. She was always the best in school and received an excellent education, unlike her brothers, who pretty much were left to fend for themselves in the “family business.” But Moira didn’t want to just be another businesswoman. She wanted to be in the family business. More than that, she believed that she could run the family business better even than the people who were in charge. She constantly worked to prove herself, not just in a business sense, but she proved that she wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty either, pulling her own weight with some of the more dirty jobs, proving that she could be quite the little fighter, both with her hands and with a gun. Eventually, she showed that she could handle the family business better than her brothers or cousins, and quickly worked her way up the ranks to become the first female “captain” in the family.
A made woman now, Moira is considered an equal to the other men. She doesn’t consider herself equal to them, of course, she considers herself above them and dreams and plans for the day when she can take over the family and eventually, the Syndicate itself. She was given the old “Rock Bottom” bar to do with as she wishes, and boy does she have plans for it, both above board and under the table.
Special Skills and Abilities:
Excellent marksman and amazing upper body strength. Speaks English and Gaelic fluently, Russian well enough, and a little Cantonese. Sharp businesswoman.
Weaknesses:
Cannot walk: Obviously, her greatest weakness is her dependence either on her chair or on someone to carry her. While she is very skilled at living in a chair, the fact remains that her legs are useless.
Narcissistic: It’s all about her. After she got sick, her parents treated her like a princess and she now feels like the world is hers and everyone else is either a means to an end or in her way. She knows that she is better than everyone, and just needs to show the rest of the world that. She gets what she wants, be it money, power, women, or whatever.
Anger Issues: Has very little patience with those underneath her or for sympathy and will lash out with little provocation.
Migranes: The bane of her existence. She's managed to get past the whole not-walking thing just fine, but the one thing she can't get past is a gift from her mother- horrible migraines. When she's got one, she has to be in bed in the dark and Must. Not. Be. Bothered. Or you'll pay. As soon as she's feeling better.
Strengths:
Unassuming: Really, how much trouble can a girl in a wheelchair cause? Quite a lot, really. You never know what she’s hiding under her blanket.
Family or Connections:
Member of the O’Malley family and as such the Konovich Syndicate.
Residence:
An exquisite apartment completely modified for her needs in the nicest part of town.
Career:
Manager, Rock Bottom (officially), Captain in the O’Malley family
PB: Alyson Hannigan
