Character Profile

Name: Kimiko

Age: 21

Gender: female

Type: Select One

Appearance:

Kimiko's a young, fresh faced japanese girl. She's got long dark hair, that she keeps straight, and usually wears down, unless she's being expected to dress up for whatever occasion. She's got big, rich brown eyes, and a bright, sweet smile. She's a tiny thing, which works out if she ever has to duck behind things in the middle of a gun fight. It also means she can get into places other people can't, should she need to. She's often mistaken for being younger than her actual age, something she doesn't necessarily discourage. If people want to think she's fifteen and treat her accordingly, who's she to tell them she's not? She also will claim to be whatever ethnicity people have decided she is. It's not like the white people can actually tell, and most of them assume she's Chinese. She never corrects anyone.

Personality:

Most people would describe Kimiko as bubbly. She's a happy sort of person who's difficult to keep down. She's smiling almost all the time. One could call her a ball of sunshine, and they wouldn't really be exaggerating. She's cheerful. She's sweet, can be exceedingly generous when in a position to be so, and has a pleasant streak a mile wide. She's friendly and engaging when she has opportunity to speak to people, which lately has been more often, something she's actually excited about. She has some problems with personal space and boundaries, due to her weird upbringing and lack of proper socialization. What this means is sometimes she'll ask questions no one else would ever come up with, and she won't understand why it's inappropriate. That and sometimes she misses huge, obvious cues from people that others would pick up on in a heartbeat.

Sexuality:

It's difficult to say with Kimiko. She's never been in a relationship before, and throughout her life she's rarely spent any time with anyone her own age, either, so she's simply not had the experience of even crushing on anyone before.

City History:

So, Kimiko's been passed around. Really, she's been a commodity for people since around birth. It's simply been her lot in life. And while other girls in her position would likely have been used for prostitution, the girl had talents in other areas and it was quickly understood that she'd be absolutely wasted in that capacity. So, instead of doing other things, she's one of the best fake paper people in the business.

People get in deep. It happens. And it happened to Kimiko's family. What wound up happening was the only thing they had left after a certain point was their baby daughter, and so she got put up for collateral--and her family never did manage to pay things off. Kimiko doesn't know her real family, doesn't remember them, and has little to no chance of ever finding out about them. She was taken before she could even walk, so she's got no memory of an actual, coherent family life. She was passed around, paying off debts here and there, and while she was far too little to remember any of it, she was pretty damn well traveled by the time she got to Eidolon City. She's spent time all over Asia, passing from organization to organization, and eventually, she got dumped off in the states.

As she was growing up, the first thing that became clear to people was she was a sharp little thing. It's unclear who started her on copying things, or if she did it on her own, but eventually it was learned that she could copy things down in a manner that wasn't simply re-writing things, it was copying form, letter structure, everything. This was promising, and so they encouraged it. It wiled away the hours well enough, and she was still too young yet to be of use in other manners. They started her in on that. She enjoyed it, it was fun for her. She started actually forging documents pretty early, before she even had the slightest clue what she was doing. Since she was getting groomed to help with papers, she was taught several languages, and occasionally served as interpreter for dealings--something she still occasionally does to this day.

What Kimiko doesn't know is that her time is starting to run out. She's been useful for years and years, but really? What this kid has in her head would be really really bad to fall into other people's hands. So, her usefulness, while great, is starting to be viewed as outweighing the risks. So, while she goes about her business, doing papers and serving drinks, she's oblivious to the truth--that the people who have her have only to decide when they're taking her out, it's not even an 'if' anymore.

Special Skills and Abilities:

Kimiko is the girl to go to if you want something forged. No, seriously, she's absolutely fantastic at it. Something about the way her mind works makes her really damn good, and people know that by now. She also speaks several languages, though her best are English and Japanese.

Weaknesses:

Morally Whacked - So, Kimiko comes off as a very sweet, innocent type of girl. There's a naivety about her that stands out, despite her job descriptions and the fact that she's, say, working for the mob. Kimiko's grown up around shady people. Her entire life has been full of them. In fact it's likely safe to say that she's not spent longer than a random five minutes around anyone of good moral fiber. This has had a major impact on the way she views the world, and her own specific morality. It's bent. She's seen a lot of people killed around her. It's not that she doesn't have a sense of right and wrong--it's just a really cracked sense. Deep down that sweet-vein that people see is genuine. She's not a malicious sort by any stretch of the imagination, but yeah. Some things that really should register as 'wrong' for her don't.

Sheltered - while not in the traditional sense, since she's grown up in the mob and all that entails, Kimiko hasn't been socialized well. Part of this comes from the fact that when she was younger, she was kidnapped a couple of times, due to her skills, and so it became apparent fairly quickly that if they wanted to keep Kimiko, they should probably not have her out and about where people could nab her off the street. All of her schooling from then on was home schooling, and she isn't usually allowed out alone. She's spent little to no time with anyone her own age, so she's missing that social aspect as well. Where most girls her age would be worried about finding a husband, she's worried about getting the next set of papers set up.

Kimiko can doctor up papers just fine. What she can't do is hit the broadside of a barn with a snowshovel when it comes to firearms. She can't use them. She can clean them and take care of them and all, but actually firing them? Psh. NO. She also doesn't have wicked ninja kung-fu skills, despite people's belief in the stereotype. Really, defensively speaking, she's screwed. Shin-kicking just doesn't work out when you've got hardened mafiosos holding a gun on you. Self-defense was never taught or encouraged for Kimiko, with the consideration that they didn't want her getting any bright ideas.

A Little Crazy - So, Kimiko's crazy. No really, she's not actually got all her marbles together. And while she's not erratic, bonkers kind of crazy, that doesn't mean her elevator stops at all floors. A mixture of her upbringing, the environment she's lived in, the jobs she's done, everything, it all plays in and Kimiko's not the sanest puppy in the park.

Strengths:

Whether it's because there's bits of Kimiko's mind that just don't function properly (read: she's kinda batshit crazy), or she's just a stronger person than anyone gives her credit for, but Kimiko is terribly difficult to keep down. She really is. Things roll off her back. If anything does get her down, it won't be long before she brushes it off. It's got to be something major, and emotionally damaging. (Which is difficult because since she's an asset, it's not like she's got buddies)

She's adaptable. Whatever situation she finds herself in? Kimiko will find a way to adapt to it, and she usually does this fairly quickly.

Family or Connections:

The Konnovich Syndicate, specifically the Jade Lotus, but she's loaned out a lot to other parts of the organization.

Residence:

a small apartment in Chinatown, building owned by her owner, Mr. Ozaki

Career:

forger, fill in bartender/waitress/etc for any of the Konnovich syndicate's places of business

PB: to be chosen
