Appearance:

Michael is tall, about 6’ 5”, 170 lbs and slightly pale with bright blue eyes and short dirty blonde hair. He is almost always well dressed in a suit, unless working, when he either just goes in shirtsleeves or a doctor’s coat. He is always immaculately groomed, although he will sometimes allow himself to grow a slight “scruff” of a beard.

His smile often seems a bit forced, as if he’s got a lot going on in his mind and has to work to make the smile appear. He walks with a slight limp using a ebony walking stick with a silver handle. His knee is scarred from the incident that caused this- one of his early attempts to stand up to the mob ended with him being shot in the knee. He recovered but walking is still slightly difficult for him.

Personality:

Michael is a very polite person, but a bit distant and hard to talk to. He’s found that the best way to deal with some of the things he’s seen is to simply detach himself from people. It cost him his marriage and a child he’s never seen, which is just more baggage he carries with him. He’s a deep thinker and always has something going on in his head, as if he’s on the verge of a great discovery that is just eluding him. His primary form of escape is the movies, which he goes to whenever he gets the chance and spends hours just bathing in the silvery glow from the screen.

City History:

Michael was born and raised in Eidolon City, and has lived here all of his life except for college and medical school. His parents were nice, normal shopkeepers who did the best for their son and wanted him to make the most of himself. He was an honor student in high school and went to one of the top colleges and medical schools in the country, but felt drawn back to the City to open up shop. He quickly found himself drawn to the less fortunate element of the City and opened up a low-cost clinic to help them get the health care they needed. He eventually married, but she was unable to keep up with his obsession with his patients and she left him, not even telling him where she was a couple of months later when she discovered she was pregnant with his child.

The loss only served to send him deeper into his work, and he never even bothered to look for them. If she didn’t want him around, he’d let her have her space. If she wanted to come back, she would, but he wasn’t expecting it. His life took an unfortunate turn a couple of years ago when one night, as he was closing up, some members of the DiGiovanni Family came to his clinic with a badly wounded man, demanding that Michael patch him up. Knowing who they were, he initially refused to treat the man until they “persuaded” him. Fighting through the pain in his shattered knee, he removed the bullets and the man lived. Impressed by his skill, even when dealing with an injury, they made him an offer: He stay on retainer as their personal doctor when “discretion” was called for, and they would, in turn, help fund his clinic. Reluctantly, he agreed, knowing what might happen if he refused.

World History:

Michael is a country doctor, well liked by the people in the small northeastern town he calls home. He has a wife and two daughters.

Special Skills and Abilities:

Michael is a very skilled doctor, although he doesn’t always have the best equipment or the best conditions to work in. He knows quite a bit about movies as well.

Weaknesses:

Bum leg. A constant reminder of what happens when you cross the mob, Michael’s left knee was shattered, and he uses a cane to walk. Running is pretty much out of the question.

Reluctant accomplice: Michael knows that he is in a dangerous line of work, working for the mob, but also knows that it’s better than the alternative. Still, he lives in fear of people finding out exactly who is bankrolling him and ruining his career.

Detachment: Michael refuses to allow himself to get close to anyone anymore, afraid of hurting them or worse yet, being hurt himself.

Strengths:

Strong Stomach: There’s really nothing that will gross Michael out anymore- he’s pretty much seen it all.

Family or Connections:

Ex-wife and child, who left town 5 years ago and never returned. Doctor for the DiGiovanni Family.

Residence:

A modest apartment near the Apollo, where he can frequently be found when not working.

Career:

Doctor, runs a free clinic for the city’s homeless, on the DiGiovanni payroll as their “underground” doctor.
