Character Profile
Name: Henry Morrison
Age: 43
Gender: M
Type: Aspect
Appearance:
At 5’9” and only 120 pounds, Henry Morrison has never cut an imposing figure. Nor is he particularly good looking- his face is lined with age and his hair is greasy. His teeth are in desperate need of attention and his eyes are a bit “buggy” for lack of a better term. He often gives of the impression of looking like a nervous little rat. What body hair he has is sparse and scraggly, and he can rarely grow a full beard. His body is covered in scars from knife fights and incidents where he got a little too close for comfort with some of his “special friends”.
His less-than-desirable appearance often extends to his wardrobe. He can usually be found in a half-tucked in button down shirt and slightly baggy slacks that look like he got them from a Salvation Army dumpster. It’s not that he doesn’t care, but he’s often got too much on his mind to worry about how he looks. Besides, it’s not like he wants to be seen most of the time anyways.
Personality:
It’s almost like Henry is two people. At times, he’s an extremely nervous man, jumping at any sound, but extremely gentle. He would never harm a child or an animal, and would probably run if confronted with violence. Behind his camera, he does okay, he can control his nerves and calm himself down, but without it, he stutters and stammers like a junkie in bad need of a fix.
There is a darker side to him, however. One that doesn’t surface often, but when it does is almost like another person. Violent, angry, hateful… when he’s in one of those moods, he’s someone you don’t want to cross at all, because he won’t be the meek and mild Henry you were expecting.
Sexuality:
Technically straight, although he’s still a virgin and wouldn’t know what to do with a girl if he actually got her to bed.
Constants:
‘Keeping’ People: Primarily he does this through his photographs, his own way of “keeping.” However, in a few cases, he has gone further, actually imprisoning the objects of his desire.
Disfigured: While not extremely disfigured, Henry is definitely not someone who is easy on the eyes. He has a few scars on his body, is in serious need of dental work, and generally isn’t a particularly handsome fella, even when he cleans up.
Obsessed with beauty: Despite his homeliness, Henry has quite an appreciation for beauty. His modest townhome/studio is well decorated, at least the areas people can see. But this extends to people as well… particularly extremely beautiful women. He will do anything to make them a part of his “collection”… one way or another.
City History:
Henry was born to Abigail and Nelson Morrison, a nice normal family. Or at least they seemed that way to most people. The fact of the matter was that Nelson Morrison was not a nice person at all, and he constantly took out his anger on Abigail and, when he was older, Henry. Nelson would regularly beat his wife and only son for the smallest of offenses- dinner slightly overcooked, shoes left in the wrong place… it didn’t take much to set him off. Abigail passed away under questionable circumstances when Henry was 8, leaving him to take the brunt of his father’s aggression. Still, what else could he do? His father was a pillar of the community and a deacon in the church, who would believe a small, slightly effeminate little boy’s cries for attention?
Somewhere along the way, Henry did find things he was good at: photography and decorating. Particularly decorating. He may not have been the best looking kid in school, but he knew how to make things pretty. Like decorating with flowers or brightening up a room. He was particularly proud of how, at age 12, he had decorated the room his mother had used for her sewing on the anniversary of her death, and couldn’t wait to show his father, hoping for his approval at last. Instead, he got the thrashing of his life and was forced to watch as his father tore apart the room that he’d spent hours on. Nelson was determined that no son of his was going to be a nancy-boy.
It wasn’t until a few days later that Nelson Morrison’s body was found in the river. Henry was sent to live in Eidolon City with his aunt and uncle who, unlike his father, encouraged him to appreciate beauty, and especially encouraged him to pursue photography. As a teenager, he found life easier to manage when looking at it through the lens of a camera. He eventually got a little better at dealing with girls, who really liked the pictures he took. Eventually, he got up the courage to ask Heather Gillis, one of the most beautiful girls in school on a date. He’d taken her pictures many times and, although she didn’t know it, he kept copies on the wall of his closet, behind his clothes. She laughed at him. She wasn’t laughing that night when Henry kidnapped her and slit her throat. Somehow, like before, no one ever figured out that Henry had done it.
After high school, he began working for a photographer, later “inheriting” it and the townhome it was a part of when his boss died. The cycle continued. He would become obsessed with a particularly beautiful client, ask her out and be turned down, sometimes nicely, sometimes not so much. To a point, he’s managed to control his impulses, although he has had a few incidents which, thankfully for him, have gone undiscovered. Then he met Cheyenne and did some photo shoots for her. And the cycle continues…
Special Skills and Abilities:
Photography is one of his biggest assets. He’s also a surprisingly good decorator.
Weaknesses:
Social Anxiety- Henry really doesn’t do well in large groups. He does okay in one-on-one situations, but in a group he’s much happier watching from the side of the room. Or the shadows… or the bushes…
Rage- When he is rejected, Henry tends to “snap” and become extremely violent. He’s gotten better about controlling it, or at least delaying it, but it’s driven him as far as murder before.
Coward- Basically, when the going gets tough, he gets going. He’ll protect his own skin first and foremost, which has come in handy on multiple occasions.
Low Self Esteem- Years of being rejected will do that to you. Henry doesn’t think terribly much of himself, which shows in how he takes care of himself.
Kinda nuts- yeah, he’s created a shrine to beauty on the walls of one room of his apartment. Something’s unhinged somewhere.
Strengths:
Unassuming- people underestimate him all the time, which is how he’s managed to get away with some of the horrible things he’s done.
High Pain Tolerance- has learned to block out pain after years of having the crap beat out of him by his father. It’s come in handy on several occasions when things have gone horribly wrong with a woman.
Family or Connections:
Has numerous social connections through his business, but none that he calls on regularly. His Aunt and Uncle are still alive and living in the City as well.
Residence:
A nice combination studio/townhome in the nicer part of town. One bedroom has walls covered in pictures of various girls and handwritten rantings written on the wall.
Career:
Photographer
PB: Steve Buscemi
Other Information:
His “shrine room” is more of a dungeon… more than one girl has spent too much time there before the end. Various implements of torture and bondage abound.
