Character Profile
Name: Molly Green
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Type: Dreamer
Appearance:
Molly is tiny at 5’1” and 97 lbs. Her hair is a natural flaming copper and an abundance of freckles cover her pale skin everywhere. Her eyes are Hazel, seeming to change from blue to green depending on clothing or predominant background color. She is very slender with barely any hips or breasts. She has a fragile, doe like look to her. She can be mistaken for a teen because of this. This appearance adds to a sense of childlike innocence.
Personality:
Complicated. Molly is friendly, willing to approach anyone and talk to them, whether they understand her or not. However, she has no filter between her brain and her mouth and she can be embarrassingly honest. “That garment is reminiscent of two hippopotami trying to fornicate on your frame.” (That dress makes you look fat.) Luckily, this is lost on some people. She has extremes of emotions, when she is happy she laughs, dances (no matter where) and embraces the world. When angry she stomps her feet, pulls her hair, screams and yells. When sad she’ll cling to the nearest person and sob, which can be uncomfortable for them if they are a stranger. She forgets things easily, often making experiences new and bright even if she’s done them before. She’s been known to forget her own name. She forgets the social ‘rules’ and can remember them at odd times, and often out of age range. (Oh, crossing the street, must hold hands! She grabs the hand of the stranger next to her)
Sexuality:
Sexuality: Hetero. She is a young woman, and does feel sexual attraction and forms crushes. She can transform herself into a beautiful, refined looking woman with a little effort and remembering how to do it. However her past trauma left an impact, even if unremembered. She is very gun-shy when it comes to sex, and needs someone willing to help her go beyond the trauma.
Constants:
Aspect – ‘The Innocent’ – Constants: 1. A sweetness that either tainted, or not, shines through. She’s helpful, kind and undemanding. She is easily taken advantage of unless her ‘family catches on and cuts in as she will do any harmless seeming thing for anyone. Alone, the word ‘pushover’ comes to mind.
2. Eternal hope and wide eyed optimism even when misplaced. Everything will be better. The sun will come out tomorrow. People are basically good with a few rare exceptions. Everyone deserves a chance.
3. She inspires memories or ideas of innocence, purity, the carefree nature of the unencumbered. Among the mostly good, this can bring a smile, or a bit of resentment at the remembering of innocence lost. Among the wrong type, it can inspire the urge to destroy innocence.
City History:
Molly grew up backstage of a vaudeville show. She became a contortionist and acrobat at an early age after seeing a contortionist act that passed through when she was four. Her little mind was made up. The man gave her some tips, as she had the body shape for it, on how to slowly stretch into condition. Both her parents were proud of her and she really had a loving family, if a poor one. Mama did balancing acts and contact juggling to Daddy’s violin music. Molly joined in the balancing with acrobatics and her amazing flexibility. Molly’s mother died of cancer when Molly was twelve, devastating her daughter and husband, who had cared for her until the end.. Molly and her father carried on, but it became more and more difficult. People were spending less and less on small theater live entertainment when movies were cheaper. When Molly was just shy of sixteen, the show closed for good and she and her father found themselves busking in the streets, the same act, but without guaranteed pay or a roof. Molly’s acrobatics brought in more than her father’s fiddle. Things just seemed to get ever darker for them. When she was into her sixteenth year her world crashed again. On the way back to their little hole in the wall apartment her father was shot and killed in a robbery/assault and Molly was beaten, raped and stabbed multiple times. The last knife trust embedded the blade in the back of her skull. She wasn’t expected to survive. She surprised everyone.
Molly awoke with the fading pain of the abuse and surgeries, and no memory of the entire day of the attack. She also developed many personality changes. Almost as if she had been reformed or reborn from the basics of her life before. There were gaps in her memories, sometimes these gaps filled again while other places faded, sometimes not. She also lost emotional control. Most people can suppress their emotions to a degree, she no longer can and she displays her feelings openly. She is unable to cope with physical violence of any kind. Screaming at one another, verbal altercations, fine. But from a slap, a punch or a gun, she screams and shakes and is unable to function properly until removed from the situation. Any showing of a knife in a violent way will send her into an uncontrollable fit of screaming, shaking, crying and cowering. There is also a strange connection between what she wants to say and the words that come out. To a stranger it sounds like odd poetry or nonsense. “The roof of gray will get a new coat of cerulean paint, and the light will be switched on.” (The cloudy sky will clear and sun will shine) Molly suffers seizures brought on by the neurological rewiring. A knife through the brain does a lot of damage. She’s lucky she maintained all her motor control.
She was taken in by her paternal aunt Agatha who was kind to her, but seemed to think she was an intellectually impaired by the brain damage, often treating her as a small child instead of a young woman. It was frustrating and led to temper tantrums that did not help matters, as that is a childish act to most. Molly is very intelligent, it just doesn’t always come out right due to her manner of speech. Aunt Agatha died of a heart attack two years ago and Molly found herself running away to the streets for fear of being locked away because of her impairments. The streets are better than the institution, aren’t they? Why is she here again?
The brain damage also seemed to switch her passions from performance to traditional art. She found a passion in sculpture in all forms. The most frustrating thing for her is that her words don’t come out right. She speaks in metaphors half the time, in riddles, or apparently random sentences that all make sense if the listener takes the time to figure them out, or has grown used to ‘Mollyspeak’. Sculpture puts what is in her mind in clear form, easily seen, if still open to interpretation. She feels that her work speaks more clearly than she often does and it makes memory static, something she can grasp and hold.
Molly was picked up by Calix. He found her, dirty and half starved, selling foil sculptures and origami on the street. She currently resides amongst his family. She’s particularly attached to Jayden, as she never had any siblings, she’s unofficially adopted him as a little brother.
She is prone to wandering, much like Calix. But she isn’t looking for anything, particularly. She just likes to be outside from time to time, meet new people, dance in the rain, feel the air, just *BE*.
Special Skills and Abilities:
Molly is a sculptor in many mediums. Clay, metal, cloth, you name it. She stays in form and remains an accomplished acrobat/contortionist, but sculpture is much more an expression of her and remains her current passion. She also inspires thoughts of innocence, be it childlike or simple purity of soul.
Weaknesses:
Her brain damage from which all else stems.
1. Her inability to control her emotions can make her difficult to deal with. Her anger takes the form of a tantrum, but it is more than that. She will pull at her hair and occasionally claw at her own arms. Her rage can make it hard to breathe, especially while she’s ranting. Her joy can make her seem on a drug high, dancing, laughing, bestowing kisses on the cheek of random people…
2. Her cryptic speech makes her difficult for most people to understand. It has a strange logic to it, if someone takes a moment to think about it, but the average person doesn’t consider the odd ramblings of a mentally challenged young woman worth trying to figure out.
3. Her reaction to violence. Molly will stand there and shake, then become even more incoherent that usual in the presence of physical violence. Sometimes she curls up on herself and rocks back and forth trying to self comfort, but violence is not something she can handle and she needs a long time, or comforting coaxing to bring her out of her reaction.
4. Molly’s memory is patchy. It gets worse under stress. She views it as a cauldron, sometimes things boil up to the surface and sometimes they sink back down. She has been known to forget her own name, where she lives, where she is. The only time she doesn’t forget is when she is actively sculpting. She can focus on the design and bring it to life without forgetting what it originally was. Don’t ask Molly to go out and pick up a free groceries. She’d end up in the library.
5. Molly needs to have someone else care for her or she’d be the eternal victim. Because she can’t remember, can’t handle violence, seems like she’s mad as a hatter at times. In order to be healthy, not be victimized again, and avoid being ‘put away’ she needs a protector.
6. Seizure disorder – Flashing lights can trigger seizures, a full on terror attack can trigger them, and on rare occasions they happen with no trigger at all. She never had them before the brain damage. The seizures last a minute to three minutes and can be difficult to watch, but afterward she doesn’t remember them but may ache a bit from the muscle contractions.
7. She’s afraid of sexual contact on an instinctive level. While physically demonstrative, free with hugs and cheek kisses, hand holding and gestures of comfort, any touching that leans towards sexual makes her nervous. She may want to , dream of it, but she has to overcome this obstacle.
8. Lastly Molly keeps her body covered from neck to elbows to knees. She has bite marks, scars from surgeries and scars from her stabbings. Only a few of the women in her new family have seen them and the doctors who cared for her. She’s sure the scarring is revolting to anyone who sees it.
Strengths:
Unassuming. Molly just doesn’t seem to have a mean bone in her body, and strangers write her off as harmless, insane or stupid. This also allows her to see things most people don’t, as people tend to ignore the stupid and harmlessly insane.
Family or Connections:
Currently, Calix and by extension Miranda, Liam, Jayden and the rest.
Residence:
A large home out in the higher end of town. Molly lives among Calix’s ‘family’. He found her on the street. The environment has helped her to sculpt freely. She dislikes the drugs and some of the goings on, but is smart enough to know she’d be lost without these people, so she is loyal.
Career:
Sculptor
