Appearance:

Arienne has long wavy hair, that varies in shades from brown to black, depending on if she's dyed it recently. She tends to go back and forth, darker in the winter, lighter in the summer. She has warm brown eyes, soft features. She isn't overly tall, a diminutive appearance that she doesn't do anything to combat. She tends to wear natural fiber clothing, nothing terribly designer while out at school/volunteering--or it doesn't look that way.

Truthfully, quite a lot of her clothes are hand made for her specifically, they just have the look of something less expensive. She prefers loose, flowing breathable clothing to anything else (often times in a style that's far more medieval in nature than current), though if she's to attend anything formal, she'll go all out. She doesn't wear a lot of make up, and a general description of her look could be 'elegantly understated'. She works to maintain that appearance, as it affords her the ability not to appear to high class for the masses to connect with her, without actually lowering herself to appear to be one of them. It doesn't alienate anyone, and she somehow manages to pull off a look that's a few centuries outdated.

Arienne is young, but she looks older than her years. Both in physicality as well as a look in those big brown eyes of hers. There's an old soul quality about her that often has people surprised at her youth. Her poise, intelligence and everything fully plays into that.

She wears a delicate silver bracelet with musical notes on it at all times, a gift from her brother.

Personality:

Generally speaking, she seems like a sweet tempered sort of person, very giving in nature, very open and more than happy to be supportive. Arienne is understated and usually softer spoken. She's warm and inviting to most people, coming off as very genuine and helpful. Another thing about Arienne is that she's very, very observant, and she's always paying attention to those around her. She picks up on cues, and makes full use of her observational skills to keep a good assessment of everyone going at all times. She's a very sharp little cookie, and she is always paying attention--and not only by watching. She's someone who's also paying attention to everything she hears, experiences, she's very full spectrum. She never really seems to be staring, or scrutinizing, it's all very subtle. People don't even realize she's doing it. Or if they do, they feel she's just very interested and invested in them, and therefore consider it a good thing.

The flipside to this is that Arienne is calculated, ambitious, and driven. She makes a point to know exactly what she wants, and how to get it. She's had designs on politics since she was young, and followed through with that without ever losing sight of that goal. She wasn't one of those little girls who wanted to be a pretty pretty princess in a tower when she grew up. She wanted to be a princess who cut down her enemies and ruled well with an iron will.

One last important thing about Arienne is the girl can be viciously vindictive. If you fuck with her or something she's invested in, she will go out of her way to ruin your life. And not in a petty, small way, either. We aren't talking letting the air out of someone's tires. She'll put effort in. She'll make sure it's something that lasts and lasts, something that haunts a person til the end of days if she can help it. That iron will of hers most certainly lends itself to this.

sheltered - Arienne has been sent to the finest schools, she's gotten the finest tutors, she spent two years in France...and basically all of that has been specifically designed so that she doesn't have much of a world view. Or, not one that doesn't match up with what her family has decided that she should know. Granted, while she was in France she did some studies of her own, but there's still a large part of Arienne that doesn't quite have the real world experience she knows she needs--it's what drives her to volunteer in the poor areas of the city, so she can fill in those blanks. She's never going to be able to fully escape her family, however. The best she'll be able to do is one day try and take over, and that's not going to happen for a long, long time.

'wrong' guy - High society and the kinds of men it produces bore the hell out of Arienne. Not a single one of them has ever attracted her attention and most of them she's swatted like a fly out of her way if they tried to woo her. She gets set up on dates with potential 'husbands' through her family, and she's hated every one. The qualities she would look for in a mate, however, don't match up with normal society and that's why. She doesn't want some flake with no substance. She doesn't want someone she can dominate the hell out of who will do whatever she asks. She doesn't want someone who she's just around to look good on their arm, either--or hell, not even vice versa. No, Ari wants someone who can share in her world view. And her world view is not the same as everyone else's. Either way, any man who ever does attract her attention is going to be a dangerous sort by definition. Most certainly not anyone her family would pick out for her.

defiant - Arienne doesn't want to do things anyone else's way. She wants to do them her way. She gets uncompromising in ways, even if she still tries to play things in such a way that people won't get too angry with her over it all. That wouldn't do. But that still doesn't mean that she does what she's 'supposed' to. Most certainly not in the way her family seems to think her life's meant to go. She wants nothing to do with their plans for her, and plans to go against all of that. In fact, even just her charity work and going out to work on the streets and help the homeless is at odds with what her family wants her to be doing with her spare time.

City History:

Growing up the precious baby of the family, Arienne really did have a fairly easy life. She could do what she wanted, study what she wanted, her whims were often catered to. Considering some of the other children in the family and within the rest of the 'organization', Arienne fast became quite favored. She has decent connections with the other families as well, having specifically cultivated such things since she was young. Now this never meant she was a saint, but she was better at doing things than any other child before her. She found she could get away with things much more often because when Arienne did things? They were subtle. She took that entire approach to her life. Metaphorically speaking while some family members were jumping up and down at the front gate waving their arms and screaming at the guards to let her in--Arienne would smile and find someone to let her in the back door as a favor, really.

One of her crowning achievements is she is fairly accomplished with singing. She's been taught a few instruments as well, though the main two she stuck with were piano and guitar. At dinner parties, she is often brought down to entertain their parents guests. Though Arienne's personality doesn't often lend itself quite well to true whimsy or outright enjoyment of a lot, music is actually very important to her. She enjoys it. She keeps up with it not because it's a nice thing to put on paper somewhere, and people notice her for it, but because it's something she does well with and is happy with.

Arienne studied abroad, spending two years in France(something she fought for, since she was meant to go to Italy, but she didn't want to go to the old country, she wanted to go to France) though was forced to come home mid school year due to the increasing violence of the war. She speaks French, though usually only if she finds someone who can speak it with her. Throughout her life, she was always made to understand that she was part of a family that was better than most everyone else. And while she doesn't quite have the superiority complex that some might have wound up with, that mentality has left it's mark on her. Being her family were able to get her into all of the 'right' schools growing up as well as employing many tutors, Arienne is far better educated than the vast majority of those her age. She is also interested in things that most teenagers haven't even considered yet. She's a girl who's mental and emotional age far exceed her number of years, which is occasionally frustrating for her. But she's interested in politics, and has full intentions of taking her family and it's 'business' to the next level--when she finally gets to head it. And she does plan to head it one day, even if she is by far not the first in line for the job. She's got no hesitation whatsoever in her idea that she'll get exactly what she wants--and when she wants it.

Special Skills and Abilities:

Singing, a few musical instruments(piano, guitar), speaks French and Italian, makes jewelry from time to time. Acting, assessing people. She has a head for seeing the big picture. Arienne can draw lines out in scenarios for long term in only a few minutes, it's simply the way her mind functions.

Weaknesses:

old soul - Arienne has a sharp mind, and a natural disposition towards plotting. If people knew exactly how efficient she was in just about everything she sets her mind to, they'd probably find her a wee bit scary. However, there's a problem--she's seventeen. Which means she has to bide her time, and she's got a lot of chess playing with people's lives to do before she can get where she wants to be. She's the baby of the family and catered to--but that also means that at times they don't take her as seriously as they should.

alone - Despite the fact that Arienne draws many people in with her warmth and supportive personality, it's difficult for her to make true connections with people, and she's painfully aware of the fact that no one really knows her. And while it's deliberate on her part--anyone who knows you can hurt you--that doesn't mean there aren't times where she longs for someone. Someone to share in with her on everything.

suffocated - Along with sheltering their daughter, her family has pretty specific plans for her. She's to become a premiere society icon, and marry who they choose for her(something that depending on the match could happen as soon as her next birthday). So far that person hasn't been named, but it's something that's always hung over her head as she's got no desire to follow through with those plans. She's got plans of her own. Who's will wins out is going to be a challenge. Still, she's overprotected, sheltered and they definitely aren't all that into listening to her plans, they want her to fall in line with theirs.

curiosity - Arienne wants to know. She can be an excellent secret keeper, and ohhh does she want to know your secrets. She actually looks for them in the people around her, wanting to find out what they might be hiding. She finds it fascinating, what makes people tick, and what they're willing to hide, or what they feel they have to hide. So often it's something she deems silly to keep a secret at all. She loves finding out what makes people tick, however, and she wants to know all about you. This doesn't only involve people, though that's where it's most heavily focused. If there's anything fishy going on, she'll very likely be trying to hunt down what's really going on.

Sociopathic Tendencies: detached - Arienne, while she understands how to work other people's emotions, she understands well how other people work--it does not in any way work the same way for her. She's very detached. And while she will come off as one of the warmest, friendliest, most giving people--it's mostly her giving people what she knows they want or what will get her what she wants, it isn't because she's truly like that deep down.

entitled - She also feels she's entitled to everything she takes, something instilled in her by her family and their influence. Even all the things she does for others, it's mostly for her own amusement, or because she wants to see if she can.

sadistic - The woman has a sadistic streak. She enjoys inflicting pain on people. And she doesn't only enjoy that if they're masochistic enough to enjoy it themselves. She's discovered a few different sorts of things that she's quite into, even if it's an incredibly private thing she's never shared with anyone. It's something she does not get to indulge very often, but if she does, she savors it. She shares a bit of a preoccupation with blood as well, though mostly it's the pain aspect of it all. This side of her is extremely well hidden, but is very much there.

control issues - Ari likes to have control over nearly everything around her. Everyone as well--even if they're never aware of it. Occasionally she longs to see if she can create a pet, a willing victim to play with, but she needs to find someone who sparks her interest enough to put in the effort, which would be a long process for her. If she commits like that, she does so whole heartedly.

Strengths:

She is very good under pressure. Arienne is very rarely ruffled, and if she is she is collected enough to remove herself from a situation she doesn't feel she can appropriately handle. She's great at assessing everything around her, people, etc. and that helps her keep up with everything she's doing. Finally, Arienne is determined. Once she sets her mind to something, come hell or high water, she'll find a way to accomplish what she wants, something she'll pursue with relentless fervor.

Max - Ari is well aware of the fact that if anything happens to her, her brother will come down harder than a ton of bricks on whoever's put a foot wrong. She has a very good relationship with him, one she holds high in importance. Max will have her back, and it gives her more confidence to do things knowing that the psycho on a leash will strike if things get ugly.

Other Information:

Shiny Things-- While Arienne would like to cut this out of her life, she does in fact like shiny things. A facet of this is she's a collector. Her collections will go in stages, going strong for a few years until something else catches her eye. She often has more than one active collection going at a time. One of the only ones that's been life-long has been worn smooth beach glass. She has an extensive collection of that, that she often makes into jewelry in her spare time. She has a hand made beaded curtain made entirely out of the stuff, that she's kept with her and brings to put on the doorway of every room she's ever had, and she's continually adding to it so she can edge her bed with it, like a very unique canopy. She has a collection of porcelain dolls that she collected as a little girl that edges up in the hundreds. She always feels strange if she isn't collecting something, and it'll start to unnerve and actively bother her if she can't add to one collection or another. It also means that if she doesn't have space for her collections, she'll fill the space she does have. In her year abroad, she got into trouble a few times for having a room that was probably considered a fire hazard for all the stuff she had packed into her dorm.

Occasionally, Arienne will go by her mother's maiden name instead of DiGiovanni. It doesn't fool everyone, of course, anyone who knows higher society knows who she is, but sometimes she can get away with introducing herself as Arienne Moriarty.

Arienne raises birds. She has a few of them, keeping them in an indoor greenhouse garden at her home. Her favorites are a raven an owl and a hawk.
