Character Profile
Name: Virginia Samantha James
Age: 26
Gender: female
Type: Select One
Appearance:
Virginia is a girl who always looks a little too thin. It's not really because she doesn't eat well enough, she just has a high metabolism that's tough for her to overcome, so she's a little waif thin most of the time. She has a delicate look about her that tends to draw people in, with long dark hair and bright blue eyes.
Personality:
Virginia comes from a big family who's main priority is family. So she's a warm, giving person with the patience of a saint. Like all the James' she's got a good head on her shoulders for the most part, a quiet intelligence and strength that lend towards a stable temperament most of the time. If one can manage to make her angry, minimum safe distance should be reached--no one can quite give someone a Talking To like Virginia. It just usually takes a bit to get that out of her.
The most important thing to her is her family, though she wishes she had one of her own. She envies her brother and sister for the fact that they've got daughters, and she often daydreams about finding herself a husband.
One of the driving forces of Virginia's personality is she's very creative. and while not an artist in a traditional sense, she's been designing clothes since she was pretty young. She started sewing at a very early age, and she didn't so much like to follow the set patterns, she wanted to make her own. She thinks outside of the box a lot, and is good at finding ways around obstacles.
Sexuality:
hetero
City History:
The James family were never a rich clan. But they had what they had, and while she wasn't really aware of it when she was younger, she later figured out that sometimes they had food on the table because her big brother had a less than legal method of gaining the money to get it. That and some of the little trinkets he'd give her when the mood struck him probably fell off a truck somewhere. But family was family, and that was just how things were. She grew up with a creative mind.
That creative mind really helped her find a career. Virginia's a clothes designer. She has a very small shop downtown, though she so far doesn't make enough from it to support herself and therefore she lives with her parents still. She's looking to remedy that situation, but she needs a few more clients before she can get there. She's been working hard on some new designs that she hopes to have up and ready for summer, getting a little daring with women's fashions. Still, she loves what she does, and the long hours she spends behind her sewing machine are ones she wouldn't trade.
Lately she's been starting to take individual orders. It's a very new thing for her, but some of higher society have been taking notice of her, and she's hoping that this will turn out to be her big break--fashion designer to the beautiful people uptown.
Special Skills and Abilities:
expert with all forms of sewing and designing, etc.
Weaknesses:
Lonely - Virginia’s getting worried. She’s getting into her late twenties, and she doesn’t have a husband. Sometimes she thinks this is it--she's an old maid and she's never going to find anyone. But she never really met Mr. Right. It wasn't for lack of trying, but no one ever really clicked for her. She didn't even meet someone she wished had proposed and never did. There were never boyfriends that she hoped to spend the rest of her life with. She wants to meet a man who she can marry who isn't going to try and change who she is, though. She doesn't want to be a housewife, and that's sort of a problem.
Living With Mom and Dad - As much as she'd like to live on her own, or with her nonexistent future family, Virginia can't afford it. And her parents don't mind--they would probably be happy if their children never left the nest--but Virginia would like to be on her own. She feels like she should have been a long time ago, but it never quite panned out. She saves a little at a time to put towards this, but so far hasn't made nearly enough to even go looking for a place.
People - Virginia's never gone through a time in her life where she hasn't been surrounded by people. She did learn after she started working long hours at her shop that she doesn't necessarily fare all that well by herself. She's used to being in a house with a lot of people, so even if she's in a room alone, there's always someone just a room away. If she's left to her own devices for too long she starts getting antsy and she needs to seek out company. Anything more than a few hours is generally too much for her.
Stubborn - Like pretty much everyone with the James last name, Virginia's got her own form of an attitude. She's a great girl, she's sweet and warm and giving but when she believes in something, she'll dig in and be the most immovable object ever. Even if she's wrong. She doesn't give anything up easily, and she'll vehemently fight for what she stands for, whether it's advisable or not. It's very likely contributed to the fact that she isn't married(or so she believes and yet she won't compromise on it). She's not a pushover, and never will be but she doesn't have the discretion to know when she should give in on something.
Strengths:
creative - Virginia's got a mind that isn't idle. It's always moving, always finding different things to draw inspiration from. And she puts it to use, as well, and successfully.
motivated - The girl isn't waiting for some prince charming to show up, she's going about her life and trying to make her own happiness. She's never lazy about things, always choosing to get things done before they're necessary instead of putting anything off.
